InPower is a Windows-based service and diagnostic tool. This tool provides electronic service functions including; adjustments for trims and settings, monitoring, strip chart, data logging, viewing faults, and report capability.

The tool can also be used to save a device?s parameter trims and settings to a file. The stored settings can be viewed off-line and they can be used to setup multiple installations of the same application controller type.

InPower consists of a family of software products. Each product is designed to support a unique power generation related application, such as Generator Sets (Gensets), Generator Drive (G-Drive) and Automatic Transfer Switches. Each product is packaged and installed separately, and each one has a unique serial number and registration password, to provide software security.

InPower requires a Windows XP Pro, Windows Vista Capable, or Windows Vista Premium Ready operating system. Refer to Installing InPower for minimum system hardware and software requirements. To install and use InPower, you need experience using the Windows operating system.

NOTE: InPower no longer supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows 2000, Windows ME, or Windows NT.

The service PC, running InPower, is connected to the device (controller) via an RS-232 serial communications null-modem cable. The serial cable is connected to the (COM) port on the PC with a DB9 connector. The other end of the serial cable is connected with either a DB9 connector or a 9-Pin Deutsch connector, depending on the application. Service cables are available for both applications.

Insite will not communicate with this engine.
You need cable part number 3163156 to connect to the engine, it connects directly to the engine from the PC, no inline adapter!!. If you buy one from other than Cummins, make sure that it is the newest version, after 2003, the old version of the cable, (for the original QST30 with a single ECM mounted at the rear of the V, pre 2003), was missing a resistor required for communication with the GCS controller.
Another tip, on the left bank wiring harness just to the rear of the fuel pump, there are 2 single pin connectors, one male and one female. Connect these together to flash out fault codes on your GCS controller. I have never done it, always used InPower.

When the ECM is in Diagnostic Mode,the Common Shutdown [yellow] and Common Warning [red] LEDs are used to display the fault codes of the currently active shutdown and warning faults.
These active fault codes are flashed out in the fallowing method:

1.The first active fault code is flashed out 3 times consecutively
2.If there is more than one active fault code, the process advances to the next fault and flashes out its code 3times and so forth until all of the active faults have been displayed.
3.If the Fault Flashout mode is stiilactive after all faults have been displayed, the process start over again whith the first active fault.
4.This cyclical display of active faults continues while Diagnostic Mode is active.

For example:

yellow[start]/ red red /2 sec pause/ red red/ 2sec pause/red/ 2sec pause;First repeat off code;Second repeat off code/Start nex code

The above example shows the LED flash-out sequence for reporting fault code 221.
if you want to read first ignition key off.

Hello RSwire..... Below is Hercamp's post #13 which worked well for me. Inpower 8 creates a Program Files folder either on C: or D:. Look for it, then remove/replace the original calibr.exe file with the calibr.exe from the crack. Good luck.............

Reading the threads, it seems that Inpower 8 can be unlocked two ways.

One is by just replacing calibr.exe which I did; and it seem to be working fine. I haven't tried using it on an engine as I don't have the cable yet.

The other way is through a keygen.

Can someone please explain the correct procedure?

The correct way is to contact cummins and pay for a subscription. :vollkommenauf:

Of the other 2 options usually the best way is via keygen. Most cracks work just as well though. Its just that some cracks may not modify all the files needed for all the program functions.

Hi jctech. Just today, I was able to use Inpower on a QST30 genset and saw that the engine had the wrong ECM installed. It was surging at rated speed. Engine serial number is 37187076 which requires a 3094141 ECM. However, the installed ECM was 4067777, a GCS type.

Is it possible to recalibrate 4067777 to match ESN 37187076? Quickserve does not show any ECM code or SC for this engine serial number. See attached files.

Hi jctech. Just today, I was able to use Inpower on a QST30 genset and saw that the engine had the wrong ECM installed. It was surging at rated speed. Engine serial number is 37187076 which requires a 3094141 ECM. However, the installed ECM was 4067777, a GCS type.

disconnect one fuel pump and see if engine runs stable, then disconnect the other, reset all alarms.
If fuel pump runs stable with both pumps disconnected, try recalibrating to latest cal.

SPT 03T19-20 describes the upgrade applied to your engine.
You must use calibrations that suit the CPL of the engine.
Use "find InCal" to make InPower search your PC for the InCal files.
Once you have "InCal Drive: C/D: status good" in the lower right hand corner of the screen, connect to your enginee, and save a capture file.

Hello jctech.... I can't seem to install Inpower Pro 8 on my new laptop with Win7 64bit. I just won't proceed and comes up with error "please select the tool/s you want to install".

Installation guide states the Inpower is compatible with Win7 at 64 bit.

It's running fine on my old laptop with Win XP.

Singleperson you can download Power spec from the Cummins Web site for free Cummins PowerSpec (http://www.powerspec.cummins.com/site/home/download.htm) . If you down load it and get it up and running I need a lic for pc id 3D23EE20 . Hope this helps out !!!!!!!!:wavey:

Hi Singleperson, I know that this is your thread, but please try to keep it on InPower, if you start to get powerspec in here it will get very confusing and people will stop using the thread.

For calibration the program is necessary only.

InPower v8 does not use a dongle, v7 uses a dongle.
For calibrating, you need Powergen InCal, this is different to Insite InCal

Yes I have used rs232 to USB converter with Inpower..... worked well with QST30 genset.
