It's been years since i had ADSL. When you finish the initial setup can't you unplug the ethernet and pick the wireless connection up, on the laptop. Why does the ethernet need to be still plugged in after the initial setup ?

You need to set the router up initially using the ethernet lead, you should be able to disconnect the lead and connect wirelessly after that. I;m sure someone will either confirm this or tell me i'm talking shite lol

sounds like you need to set the router up via ethernet cable
then uplug the cable and then set a new connction for wireless
