If you search the garage-forum you will find some threads about the autel maxidiag 70x. This is the little brother of the maxidas and it should worth the money. I guess diagnostic functions should be the same with both tools. I don't know what the maxidas can do better/more and if you want to pay more for that.

I have Maxidas DS708. Its working very well with euro & jap cars. Maxidas can do US cars but i haven't had a chance to test that yet.

At the beginning there was problems with early e46 BMW, but latest software update has solved that. To me its better then AutoBoss. Also it does support Holden (Opel Australia).

I have tested maxidas on following cars: Toyota Vitz 99-2003, Honda Fit 2001-2004, Mazda Demio 2002-2004, Honda Civic - 2000-2003, BMW E92 2008, Peugeot 2000-2004 206/307, MB, VW Polo & Golf 2002-2004, Renault Clio 2003...

Thanks for reply. What function have you tested? Just dtc reading and clearing or advanced function too, like key programming? Could you read all ecus or did you notice that some couldn't talk with ds708?

I test Maxidas one few cars and work very good.
Mercedes 211 2004 the functions are almost same as DAS,but without details.
Live data have factory comparation data,same as DAS.

Then i try on AUDI A8 2005 ,function is same like VAG Com or other scaner,btw evry chanel and value have description.

Test on Renault laguna II ,i have acces at all control units,dtc,real data,active test functions alomost same with Clip.

Test on Ford Focus TDCI,have a menu like IDS and can acces evry control unit and almost all functions.

Test on Opel Astra H 2005 ,when try to acces control units a mesage error come out (ecu unknown reference)
and only read ,clear codes and live data function was available.

I think with the new updatex maxidas will be very powerfull,but never can have the functions like a dealer tool.

I bought this ds708 today and seems to me very good tool to me.
I worked in citroen and seat services there was the originals tools. ds708 good to allmoust same like original tools. (not all models but lot of them)
I try today log to volvo s60 and ds708 show to me lot of ecus and data. there was some program options to.
Its not just the toy it is pretty good alternative for originals tools.
There are some funny thinks to.
1. I cant change explore home page.(because keyboard disappears)
2. on box are the fiat but no fiat soft.(be ready later)
I try work about some weeks then i know more of ds708.

Some bad thinks:

On Renault and FORD you cannot do injector programming
Maiby withe the next update the options will be there.
On ISUZU there is only usa models.

There is some problems. updates program stop working about 3 days ago.

Server not resbond somethink like that.
I ask my dealer He told me right now the 1 year or 3 year update limit not work yet.

yesterday i read BMW 525tds 1998 ecus.
There was DDE ecu 2 fault code But ds708 is shown to me fault description.
Same problems was asb ecu to.

I understand what you mean,but Autel its a new product and they need to fix their problems for old and new cars too.
Untill now i don t have problems with Autel.

Well, I can only say I got it right the first time.

These are big quality issues, which a customer hates. The machine is worthless without the descriptions.

Simple testing will show these bugs, so that they can be corrected. That is, it they even know what the DTC text has to be.

And this is not the only issue I know off. Even here on digitalkaos there are more examples.

My previous autel maxidiag702eu showed a fault with the description of
Ds708 and can not handle it.
Seems a bit odd that the company's low-cost machine can do the same but more expensive than not.
It would be a mistake so that only one of the ECU is unable to describe.
But all this only shows errors 525tds codes without any description.
We hope that the innovative things are going better and better.

When its bot ,its boot directly in diagnostic mode,maiby if you modify the sistem you can use it like a pda.
DS708 have internet explorer and u can use google translate there if you need.
Ds708 its a diagnostic tool,not a pda.

Sometime update not work,when they add ne software to the server.
Now orking perfectly ,they add Fiat ,Lancia ,Maseratti and Alfa Romeo this month.

This product functions grow very fast ,and its a good product.

FOr this its not exist clone,only original products.
You can buy directly form Maxidas.com or Auteltech.com
Update is directly from the main unit using LAN or Wileless.

Had reply from one chinese seller, who said there product was clone and she will ask engineer how to update, but promised 3 years updates free????

I don t heard about clones for this product.
Update is free and its not depend of any S/N.
If you have a main unit and need update you can use my software for your unit without anyproblem,i already test :)

Under GM you can acces Chevrolet ,Pontiac,Buick ,Cadillac,GMC,Hummer and some SAAB.

Most of them work on automatic reconigntion,as i am located in Europe i not test this unit of many American cars,but i test on Hummer ,Chrysler,and Ford Usa,and the menu and acces function are same as dealer tester (Tech2,VCM,Star for Chrysler) without programming functions.

A tough question...
How does this tool make with Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD?
I believe it can read "US models", with gas engines but how about Jeeps with MB diesel, '02-'04?

An other question.
Is there any differencies between US/Euro models, in their updates or anything?

They modify the update manager from unit and not work anymore without pasword .
I email them and don't get any answer.
New units after 2011 december have a pop up windows when you power on and ask for registration and then generate a pasword for update.
But how about old units ?

Sometimes, it takes time, but they reply.
The standard procedure is: you send them an email with your DS708 S/N, the user name and password you'd like to use, and they match them.
If I were you, I would send them such an email right away.

I did.
We all may have other solutions, but sometimes, the manufacturer does not like that at all, and in the end, it is us who loose their sympathy (support) forever (I don't like that word but ...), and the tool we bought from them very often becomes useless (without new updates in the future).

i bought mine in oct/2011 from china and now i can update it as update manager says wrong password.i emailed the comany severl time but no answer.support is sh*t from the comany.is there work around to update the tool.i did register it with the tool comany since day one

To me, the only way to get updates is, to register with them and log in successfully on their website ...

I dont see it too anymore (since v1.10). You can go on youtube and check videos from aussie distributor by searching for 'maxidas holden'.

I've read that the holden and australian ford updates are only provided by local autel dealer. Maybe you can get them there if you use an australian ip adress?

I have found a bit newer version (2.0) which actually works with Holden VT/VX cars, but that version is far away from latest. Still hunting for newer version....

No, as I know, Autel Maxidas can't program key.

Hi, the specification of autel maxidas mentioned it cover all 9 mode scan. I have toyota prius classic 2002, and generation 2 (2004). Is it capable taking to the Hybrid battery ECUs, collect data, report them? Does it read the Hybrid battery data such as voltage , blocks, current, temperature, etc

No, as I know, Autel Maxidas can't program key.
You are wrong.
Maxidas can program many keys for many makes.
I programmed a key for a Honda Civic 2006 with the "All Keys Lost" option just yesterday ...

Hi, the specification of autel maxidas mentioned it cover all 9 mode scan. I have toyota prius classic 2002, and generation 2 (2004). Is it capable taking to the Hybrid battery ECUs, collect data, report them? Does it read the Hybrid battery data such as voltage , blocks, current, temperature, etc

tested on asian cars in my shop and all is good so far, except for isuzu jackaroo 4jx1 which is giving wrong informations on live data.

yup, i already posted the said problems.
i'm not emphasizing that Maxidas is not good.
NO tools can really do all the things what all of us are expecting.
some can be done better with maxidas and some with launch and some with others.

It registered with autel web site and updated ok. But would hardly connect to anything, so I called Autel.us and they told me this unit is not for US Market, and I need to pay them additional $600 for tech support and North America software ? I didnt know they have different softwares for different regions ...

I tried few cars,
2004 Lexus- worked ok
2008 Mercedes e350 - no communication at all (even OBDII function)
2008 GMC Sierra- no communication at all (even OBDII function)
2012 toyota camry- no communication at all (even OBDII function)
2003 VW passat- very little

In USA menu I have ; OBDII, GM, chrysler, Ford,
I have updated the tool with newest software.

Ther error message I get is no communication.

There is some problems. updates program stop working about 3 days ago.
Maybe coming some new cars or something.

I bought one Maxidas Ds708 from Autel Maxidas DS708 China Fault Code Reader on Sale (http://www.uobd2.com/wholesale/autel-maxidas-ds708.html) . It can work with most car models, that's good. but fail to work with these cars: 2008 mercedes , 2008 gmc, 2003 vw passat, 2012 toyota
Does anyone can do these cars?

This week - worked with latest software available:

2007 MB ML350 - worked fine
2008 Honda Civic worked fine
2003, 2004, 2005 Passat & Golf - worked fine
2004 Honda Jazz - worked fine
2009 BMW M3 - worked fine
2007 Mazda 2 - worked fine
2003 Toyota Yaris 2006 - worked fine
1996 Honda Accord - worked fine!

I haven`t see DS708 not communicating for with some car for a while !

Last time was ~1.5 year a go Toyota Landcruiser 1998, but after few updated - its all sorted. I can scan this car now fine.

Update your software or check your tester, something is not right!

hi,

try to check the cable.
maybe 1 or 2 wires broken.
trace all pins with ohmeter from obd16 plug to db15.
all obd16 pins should have connection to db15 pins.

pin 4= chassis ground 5= signal ground.
both are ground.
6=can hi 14=can low

Chrysler CCD is an adapter which allows you to connect your Maxidas to Chrysler OBD ports.
Diesel or not it does not matter at all ...

I also had a problem with BMW and MB. Could not communicate with each ECU.
Problem Was Broken resistors DS708 mother board.
Resistors is 10 ohms. Pin 8 And 1 resitors was faulty. it seems burned.
Maybe I got faulty car.

bought a maxidas...being a locksmith by trade, programmed a key for nissan Titan 2006 easily.

Interestingly T300 failed on this car bcoz it would not pull out bcm number whereas maxidas did

According to my information, autel every effort has focused on MaxiSys.

Seems that this is Autel's way of business. If they develop a new tool they stop support for older tools. They never made updates for the Maxidiag 70x, even if the promised.

They are all there on the Maxidas site. Unless you absolutely need them I really wouldn't bother though. Look at the top of the picture on the image at the top of the thread on the other forum where you have asked this. Click on the bit where it says 'Worldwide'.

I bought original DS708 in Spanish language, nice tool, but I cant to add Chinese brands by updating, such as Great Wall, Chery and more. Any idea?. Maybe due to extra cost?. Thanks

I got a original one at the Autel dealer ,the quality is good ! Compare the diagun III , use more easy ,also this can do many models ,such as asian and european models , this is from

I found Diagun 3 not as good as Diagun 2 as far as the software application went
I sold the 3 and bought openserial 2

Diagun 2 on market have original also copy ones, Diagun 3 right now only Original ones for update online .

I've got several original Diagun 2 with open serial so all software works 100% etc
That's the only firmware change to the original unit
Just stripped the lock so all keys work so to speak
Easy and cheap to update compared to the new 3 that has very limited update methods and at a unknown costs

maybe i haven't got the details ,but all our workshop use the tools are original , because if i got clone one ,will casuse a lot of problems from my clients ,

If you know this for sure, then please tell me where I can get updates for the Maxidiag series (JP/EU/US/FR70x or MD801)?
There is a big difference between what Autel says/advertises and what they do. They want to sell their new stuff, they don't care about long term support.

it would be nice to know exactly what updates are being made ( IE ford injector coding or immobilizer read pin etc) rather than just saying updates available.

I do not think that such a change will be made. Autel released a new product at a different price - MaxiSys.
Why make a competitor in the form DS708?

Hello everyone.

Could you please tell me if you have the same issue as me?
Lately I noticed the key programing menu has disappeared.
The rest seems to be OK, but I have no longer the opportunity to program keys.
Last time I was able to program keys, there were activities on the unit's WiFi icon (meaning someone was collecting and/or sending data from and to the DS780).
Anyone in the same boat?

Hi, it's not the version, but each software of every one make that's been tampered with ...

Up state from me a guy sells them (clones) for 1400 real for 1899 is a offical distro. But if you cannot afford he will come out and do what you need for 50/100 bucks. It covers alot for matching ecu/pcm and keys are not 100 percent on everything. For nissans it only did non can but this was 3 years ago. Chrysler coverage was good back in 2011. I would buy if I had a shop and not 60 percent of factory diag tools already.

Hi

I just got a DS708, UK original...
After the latest updates the white splash screen was replaced with the black imported screen...
I have raised an issue with autel uk, and i am awaiting their reply.

I don't have it for too long yet, but i saw the key programming in the past...
After the updates (the latest ones), i know at least that there is nothing to program cards on my scenic 1.5d 2004, but I have never checked before anyway... others might can tell...
I could however, (also before the latest updates), retrieve the pin code and progran a new key on a vauxhall corsa 1.2 from 2002.

Overal the tool seems quite powerfull, coverage and functions are vaste, and when compared with a few ???? k tools, is indeed on the same range...

Just hope they are not removing functions from the DS708, keeps updated marginal...

Hi

Definitely there is no key programming options on Peugeot 307 HDI from 2001.
Although all the other functions are pretty much the same as the original planet 2000.

Right, I can now confirm that the key programming still there on some cars, even the pin code retriever option.
Checked on an 2005 Audi A4, and on a 2002 Vauxhall Corsa...

The best solution is to multiple sd backup cards as autel delete the old stuff as they put on newer models.

Makes sense, but don't see the point of that. ..
On the last firmware update they stated that the machine would now support sd cards up to 32 gb...
So they should not do that for the sake of saving space...
IMHO...

yes but the early ones came with a small sd card, if you had not got a bigger card it would simply overwrite your old data and with it the old cars were not there anymore.

I intend to buy maxisys but i read comment about alot problems with it, restarts on its own, gets stuck or freezes while running certian functions... Maybe anyone have experiance this is true or ... ?

i actually bought one i liked it so much so far its never rebooted or anything odd always behaved as it should with regular updates its a really strong all round tool and would recommend it,
