Hi All,

Could anyone advise if the below cable would be suitable to connect a 1TB Western digital usb mini B hard drive to the Esata port on a DM500HD?

The hard drive has an external power supply.

Any advice or alternative methods to attach this hard drive to the 500 hd would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You cant connect a External Hdd using the USB mini Port, the Mini USB is for Service updating only ....

You need to get an Esata Hdd that has its own power source and Plug it into the Esata port on the rear of your Receiver.

I have writen about this recently for another solution.

Thanks

Im aware that the mini port is for firmware + software updates only and I do not intend to void my warranty by unlocking the usb.

my question was can this cable connect to the Esata port of the DM500hd and the usb mini B connect to my western digital usb hard drive? The hard drive has an external psu but just wanted to know would such a cable allow a usb hard drive to function in the esata port?

For example the link below shows a cable that allows usb mini devices to be connected to an Esata port. if you have an external power supply i cant see why this wouldnt work?
