you can get a program called crossover and that allows you to run windows programs on your mac
just instal it and then instal office and it will crosseor will open it
or you could use iworks which will open office doc and is better than office

If you google codez4mac it's on there.

Or like firestorm said just run something like vm fusion or bootcamp

The mac version of office is miles better than the pc version (after all Word was originally a mac application ;) ), so I wouldn't run it in crossover/vmware.

Just try. eg. thepiratebay and type 'office mac' see what comes back.

There didn't used to be any copy protection on mac office at all, I know people who got their copies by taking a usb stick into the apple store and just copying it off a demo machine :)

I'm not sure that the fellow means PC version for Mac, but actually Mac version. In case this is what you mean grab a try out version from here "http://mkzxzs.link-protector.com". Official M$ site, there is a button in the upper area called Try it now. Cheers

Try Open Office it's free at Open Source Mac - Free Mac software, all open-source, all OS X. (http://opensourcemac.org/)

Open Office is good but i hate the fact that it updates too often for my liking.
Office for MAC is very good but lacks the embedded typing corrections of the MACOSX
iWork on the other hand is simple and takes advantage of the built-in typing corrections

My suggestion is to try them all before you decide. I personally use iWork or TextEdit for non-complex typing
and Word for the more-specialized staff :)

I like the fact openoffice is open source and free but it doesn't compare to Office unfortunately. Office for Mac is a nice piece of software.

For those of you that don't know LibreOffice has evolved from OpenOffice. Not entirely sure of the reason, i believe it is something to do with the way Oracle support OpenOffice.
LibreOffice is still open source.

I have not installed any office yet.

But from i am reading the only universal compatable system between mac and windows is office mac, i have read if you send via a different office program a windows based may not open it?

is that true
