Hello to all of you!

First of all, please believe me that i really used the search function before starting this thread.. i did it for at least 2hours..

With the hope that you will help me or at least tell me what to do.. i will start showing my problem, issue..

I bought a Star C3 with IBM T30.. all the softwares are preinstalled, and this is the reason why i bought these the devices together and from the same person, i just wanted to be sure it will work from the begining.

First off all, the Xentry application is not launching because of an expired licence.. no problem, i asked on the forum for other, and someone who wanted to help me, gave one to me.
I put the new licence, but i had another error about time expired, i found out that i should install the time patch, and i wanted to, but when i had to paste in the installation directory, the files were already there with the same size, and i didn't made this again.

On other way, i launched the DAS application, it opens, it works but it returns the error from screen shot, when i tryed to connect to my Vito, no problem, i thought my car has a problem, i went to other car, unfortunately, this one is also, vito and the same problem, it is returning the same error..

In this case, i tryed to connect via HHT-WIN.. this i time, i connected succesfully, on both vehicles, but this looks to me like an old version, on how it looks on the display, with big pixels and so on, but it works and it show also real time values.

Now, the question is..

Will this star work on Vito models or other models, only with HHT-WIN protocol? or is something wrong to me?

And also.. if DAS is diagnosis application, and Xentry is also diagnosis application, what is the difference between them?
Is xentry for newer models?
Is xentry for programming?

Thank you all for being patient with me, and i hope you wont get mad when you will see this new thread.

Your 638 is designed to be diagnosed with HHT, you cannot use DAS or Xentry for a more fancy interface with that car. What you did try seemed to be to connect to the ME of an natural gas engine which I guess you did not have.

To me it looks like your system works fine.

I'm not qualified to answer this but I can try and experts can correct and add where needed.

Xentry is the new frame that basically handles everything, diagnosis of all cars, EPC and WIS too.

You start by selecting the car from the Xentry frame and latest models are also diagnosed via the Xentry diagnosis interface. Xentry frame actually starts DAS tool when diagnosis for older models is selected. Quite like DAS does for even older cars that are diagnosed with HHT.

This Xentry frame also has quick start icons for EPC and WIS (both appear in the form of WIS NET and EPC NET interfaces).

You can find a lot of screen captures from Xentry, likely DAS too, from this forum.

One more detail, people often confuse a fresh DAS installation with Xentry when DAS start screen has Xentry written on it.

Xentry is the newest Diagnosis and coding system

Currently handles newer cars only (i.e. w204, w212 etc )

Older cars are handled by DAS. SO even if you choose say a W211 from inside Xentry it will take you to DAS for further work.

However it is planned that very soon all cars will be inside Xentry and DAS will phase out.

So its just wait and see....

It is completely normal. If you start HHT, you can see a selection of models that are covered by HHT but if I remember right, this list actually isn't complete. You may end up to HHT from DAS for some models that do not appear in the HHT model selection list.

Hello All,
Bit of an old subject but i tried reading out a mercedes vito 639 model and the das software popped up telling me i need HHT-WIN, i use a c3 china clone and it only came with a harddrive with only das and xentry installed.
I have been searching where to get hht-win but i cannot find it nowhere, can someone help me out with this?

You've got to have HHTWIN, perhaps you did not have any desktop icon for it though. But if you are diagnosing a 639 Vito, you would need to start with DAS (or from Xentry if your release is very fresh), you'll end up using HHT automatically where needed (I cannot remember if that happens at all with a 639, could be MY dependent).

I will try to diagnose the vito again and see where it comes up with.
