Hi folks, going to try and put my points across without confusing eveyone, especially me, ok got and old 360 from a friend, the drive is knackered, its an MS25 sammy, i managed to extract the OFW from it, because, if im write in saying i will need this if im going to spoof a replacement drive, please correct me if im wrong, as iv'e never spoofed a drive yet, the thing is the guy i got it from is not 100% sure if the drive is the correct drive for the xbox, so now it gets confusing, how can i tell if the drive i have is the right drive for that xbox, because if its not would it mean that i cant spoof another drive with the OFW i have got, ie it wouldn't match the xbox, hope this makes enough sense, and any help would be much appreciated

you are right,
whats wrong with the original drive?
what does it do when you place an original in it?
what does it do when you place a DVD in it?
do you have a spare Known working drive to test the ofw you got off the broken one?
if it's saying open tray it might just need a new laser they're about ?5 for sammys.

The drive wont open at all m8, its completley dead, tried all sorts with it but it wont do a thing, tried putting games and dvd's etc in it manually but still doesnt fire up, the green light on the power button keeps flashing, so all i could think of was its the drive, i dont have a spare dive at the moment and i was reluctant to buy one until i got some advice, so if anyone out there's got a old sammy drive doing nothin let me know lol

Have a look at recovering it in dos as it sounds to me like its had a bad flash resulting in no response. If you flash the orig firmware back to it in dos it will be recovered. Then go back to doing the JF way again.

yep sounds like a bad flash or no firmware on the drive,
do what cgscott said.
get i-prep use it to create a bootable usb stick, and use that with your original fw dump to recover the drive, there's lots of tutorials out there.
