A friend of mine had a problem with a
ALFA GT 1.9 mjet. Sometimes the ECU turn
on the MIL light and diagnose message is
"BOOST PRESSURE HI" and activated
RECOVERY mode.
The error began to appear increasingly
often up to become daily.
I have done several times the diagnosis
and I've tried to change all the sensors and
valves but nothing has changed
A few days ago, the turbo is broken
exploding ...
After removing it I saw that
VNT vanes were bent and freezed
halfway...
If the diagnosis read "Hi boost pressure"
check the proper functioning of the VNT.
I am writing this short story
to be of help to someone ...
Also because I have found on this forum
someone who was able to help me when
I needed. (THANKS IPEJASINOVIC):wavey:

Diagnostic was right. I think VNT vanes was very dirty, reg-valve too, and VNT speed was too high and without control. Change VNT and check all tubes around. Test it carefuly with diagnostic - check live boost-pressure.

VNT system was damage for hi temperature and for usure...
Speed of turbo (pressure) was not controlled by VNT.
I've repaired the turbo with GT18's components and "new" turbo
is very performant...
