Why can't I upload a .gif.......

Trying to change my Avatar to a .gif .

"You are not allowed to upload animated images''
is the page that appears.

Any help would be appreciated.

AFAIK moving gifs are restricted to forum supporters.

there is an option in avatar to link it, option 1..

you need to have an account somewhere like photobucket.com

upload your animated gif there and then link it.. ;)
