START THE SAUCE...
Mince the garlic and onions and fry in a large saucepan with olive oil over medium heat until translucent. stir in canned tomatoes, sugar, some salt and bayleaf. cover and reduce heat to low. simmer for 90 mins.
MAKE MEATBALLS....
In a large bowl beat the egg and mix in the mince, breadcrumbs, parsley, parmesan, black pepper, garlic powder. mix well then form into 12 balls and stick in fridge till you go back to the sauce.

BACK TO THE SAUCE....
After the 90 mins add the tomato paste, basil, half teaspoon pepper and the meatballs. simmer for 30 more mins. Server with spaghetti
