Depends on what you want to do with it. Plinking cans in the yard you don't need anything special. Small game hunting get a CO2 or get one with a chargable air cly on it. A good pellet gun are very accurate and cheap to feed but not to buy. The new tecnology make them as deadly as a regular 22 cal. rifle. I suggest you choose wisely, do a lot of reading. That is why I havent got one yet, still didn't do enough reacerch and been reading for about a year. For longevity stay away from any with a spring in it, wear out quick and the speed is not always repeatable.

I keep toying with buying a precharged air rifle, I have a divers bottle already having had a scuba hobby years ago, so half my cost is there already.
The legal limit is 12 ft/lbs for UK air rifles, above this you need a FAC.
A mate has bought two recently, a Turkish one and a Logun forget the models but the Logun is the bogs dollox, and apparently can be upped in power. Altho this is a no-no as this is classed as a firearm.
If you are going for a spring model, Weirauch are are reliable and rated make, but expensive.
.177 is supposed to be the target shooters choice, giving a flatter trajectory, but .22 more so for hunting being heavier.
Some people opt for an inbetween .20 calibre machine, best of both worlds I guess.
I will be curious what you get, keep us informed.

Well as much as it is against the law, especially with these roaul moat, cumbria ding dongs, what harm is upping the power a bit. Makes it easier to put rabbits down is all that goes thru my head.
You go to Cyprus for instance, and you can buy a 80 ft/lb off the shelf. Why aren't these people going out and killing people?
Think the goverment ought to address the real problem, the scumbags that have these ideas in their heads.
I mean a ban on hunting knifes? wtf! if I was that way inclined I would go into Debenhams and buy a Heston Blumenthals Tojiro Senkou knife.. nearly a foot long of finest sharpened ninja killing steel... off the shelf.

I digress... yeah, it is a very naught thing to up the power, NO!

I (with lots of thought ) bought a pneumatic chinese air rifle, at about 80 quid it was reasonable price for general vermin etc.

wasnt sure if it was going to be s*it or not couldnt have been further from the truth deadly acurate with maximum 6 pumps over 150 meters came with 10 shot thingy you turn it after each shot to get new pellet, scope and bolt action.

Best value for money ever spent
