Hi,
Great site, hopefully you can help me out.

I have an old sky box in the garage and just purchased a sky basic viewing card which I want to send to my uncle in spain.

We're currently running a Sky HD set-up in the living room.
Question is can i hook up the old box to the existing dish, activate the card in the old box then send to Spain.

Will this effect our current set-up at all?

My uncle in Spain use to have a Freesat card which has expired and he reckons this is the way to go.
Hope this makes sense. Any help much appreciated.
Cheers

Cheers dct.
I hooked up the system this morning, had a look through the channels and am missing Channel 5 ( no big deal for me )
Is there any reason for this?

I didn't hook up the phone line to the box in case this might affect the sky box we actually use.
Does this have an effect or not?
I have visions of Sky saying "Ahah there trying to pull a fast one"!

Hi

Try leaving card in skybox on stand by overnight
this used to activate ch5 on old blue cards with yellow house on

used this method a few times with boxes at caravan

without sky card in box to get ch5 look at post
Digital Kaos > Satellite > Freesat ? channel five on"freesat" from sky

hope this may help

Can i just get confirm that the fact that we're able to view channels means the card is activated as I have not called sky for activation for the card?
I just slotted it in to the machine.

Sorry to be a numptee! :stupid:
