problem on a 99 golf

have a problem with a 99 golf 1.9tdgt golf - starts fine from cold every time but when the vehicle is warm, it is a pig to start. it will start in the end but takes a long while - any ideas

vehicle has a ahf engine code and on a 1j chassis

heater plugs have been changed and diesel system has been cleaned

Use the search tab, you will find lots of info on this,

best option to repair is to re map ecu to same settings as automatic gearbox car, or you can try changing fuel settings with VCDS:

-01--engine----->login-11: code 12233-->do it!----->adaption-10------>group 01---->increment value 32768 of 5 in 5 increments, testing, until it works!

but instead of 32768 you put values from 40 ro 200
Warm start problem is to little injekted
fix it to vag-com with 01 engine ,11-Login '12233'
and 10-Adaptation 05 chanel change 32768

Fix it for only VP fuel pump bad warm start!!!

or grease the starter motor & fit a new battery

grease the planet gears, oil the BUSHes.

Oh have somebody's head handy cos on some Gulf's the starter bolt supports the donkey

Try wen engine is warm to pour cold water on injection pump and see the results.If engine start good then the injection pump is damaged.Maybe is primitive method but always function.

For understanding wen engine and pump are warm the metal dilate and if pump is used will lost pressure or not do enough for starting.
Wen you pour cold water the dilation is reduced and you have chance to start quick but just for moment solution.
