Ok, listen now

Try to drive about more then28km, and then try to read again, use like bincompare software and you will see what
lines is changet beetwen this 2 dumps now, and this is place for KM.
Use pencil and paper and make self calcul

In my instructions its have eeprom 25c080 in Body Controler, nothing else

Write what hapends???

This would be the best method to discover, but the car can not drive. if you do not get anything but the forum will try this way.

this is bcm dump before editing, cluster was not working when owner got the vehicle

OK FRIEND, you have a problem in touching the real identity car...
Here I leave the change of miles...
to change the vin uses GM platform OBD MDI... OR TECH2...

cluster was not working when owner got the vehicle. Before any changes

unfortunately there is no option to program bcm in SPS. Its not listed there
Tech2 can't change vin ither

the problem is not in bcm....

the problem is not in bcm....
thats why i'm asking to adjust cluster dump to match BCM mileage, that could be the problem. Trip miter is working, odo mileage isn't
i could roll down bcm miles but he needs exactly 97800mi

usually after the correction of the BCM not the cluster counts to 100 km away, Then will take

I have a similar one here... 2008 Chevorlet Malibu, cluster state odometer won't increment/advance, but speedometer works and even trip odometer works fine.
they changed many module, but VIN in bcm seems good (millage was not, but we'll fix later) and they send to GM to program whole vehicle (as per customer).
VIN in cluster seems not ok... but I think it needs to miss 1rst digit and the rest is swapped bytes. let me know if you think dump seems good to you guys. in any case I'll try back on vehicle tomorrow or monday.

my VIN: 1G1ZG57B48F167955

let me know if you think I made a good job or not.
thanks!!!

On some GM you have to do the dash and the BCM for it to work properly.

If the dash has more km than the BCM it will not count till the BCM catches up.

If the dash has less km than the BCM, the BCM will update it.

The swapped bytes is your crappy programmer. lol

And next time please open your own thread instead of hijaking an old one.

thanks for reply... I though it was better to highjack thread than to open one. next time I'll open mine. hope you don't mind if I continue here?
I tried first to adjust odometer in bcm (via OBD) at the same value as dash, was still not going up.
I then adjust to 67000 km, confirmed I read again 67000km in bcm, but dash stayed 67678km and still not going up, but when I read again bcm, it was up to 67001km.
that is why I read dash eeprom and saw VIN missmatch (nowhere it was written in tech2).
I'll try to read with other programmer just to confirm your theory about my ''crappy'' programmer. ;)
but in any case, VIN looks good to you now?

Of course it did not count up, 67678 is bigger than 67000 lol

Write this file to dash, and yes the VIN looks good

Wrote your dump which gave me 67001km and we driving it on the lift right now... Same result. I'll drive for a while and read back cluster in a few minutes.

edit: I also try to put BCM back to 67001 and drive again, same result.
here is what I read back in cluster: (repair verify 3)

re edit: (in UPA-S folder this time)
I then tried to put this dump in (repair_try-02) with VIN as 00 and what I though was 67001 km, but dash said 67678 km... I then adjust BCM to 161,000km and dash followed this time... but still not going up. here is that last dump taken from dash that follow bcm millage, but won't increment (repair_try-02_verify)

P.S.: and you were right, when I read with enigma, bytes are reversed. ;)

re-re-edit: I tried a few things, but last dump I tried with enigma (08malibu4), doesn't go up, but when I unplug and plug back, it jump to where BCM is... (key off and on will stay the same)
I will leave it for now, and wait for you guys feedback and ideas.

all right, I'll try this on monday. if it doesn't work I'll maybe try to put 00 as VIN again and try to use tis2web to program. I'll keep you informed. thanks!

customer drove 200km+ and still doesn't go up.
I checked with old TIS2000 sps and IPC was not in the short list of available control unit.
I am running a bit out of idea. I think I just wrote VIN wrong or something... what you guys think?

1. What modules were replaced, and were they new or used?
2. Dealer cannot reprogram a used BCM, only a new one.
3. The VIN you posted is that from the car or from the ECM or BCM?
4. Check all the modules with a scantool for the VIN and post any discrepancies.
5. Post your BCM dump.

Sounds like a VIN mismatch problem for sure, but your edited file looked good.

first of all, thanks again for you help.
also, sorry for delay... I had to take a few days off.
as of now, my customer gave the car back to his customer so he can drive a little more. he should bring the car back soon if it doesn't work.

his story is a bit... weird, so I'll let you know what I saw instead.
he asked me to program a used bcm, so he brought me both bcm, but when he told me he was replacing because odometer would not go up, and that he already tried this used bcm (car started as per customer) but same problem with ''new'' (used) bcm. so I told him that I should not take the job, since it would not help him. so he asked me to come and diagnose it. (I skipped a few step... someone pass on it before me, to program that bcm anyways as per customer, and it went to GM so they can program cluster)

when I arrived, confirmed VSS, ISS, OSS all working. speedometer and trip worked too, so I start checking VIN and milleage in other module.
BCM and ECM VIN was good (via tech2), but could not read VIN in cluster (with tech2 again). I checked millage in BCM, and it was around 160,000 or so... cluster was around 67600.
so I changed millage in BCM with smelecom to 67600, and still dash was at 67600 and not going up. so I dropped bcm at 67000, and dash stayed at 67600...

so from there I remove dash and bcm. cluster was a used one and bcm was the original (customer also had a used bcm and a used cluster in stock... testing from last guy).
I read cluster eeprom and post here, I tried changing VIN, but the first number might be a checksum or something??? anyways, from that point, cluster follow bcm when I change millage, but still not counting.

at one point, cluster was not going up when I drove the car but when I remove and re-install cluster it jumped to where bcm was at.
so to recapitulate:

1. cluster was replaced with a used one, original is nowhere to be found.
2. I know about GM, and I didn't took time to check what kind of ''programming'' has been done on the second hand BCM they had by the other guy (as it starts the car). but it was not opened, and anyways I tested with the original bcm in place. (so I guess he just learned VTD with it)
3. VIN posted was the one from the car (door, bcm, ecm).
4. already did, but when car comes back I'll check again to make sure there is no mistake
5. as soon as I get the car back, I'll check VIN and then remove bcm and cluster again to read both dump.

so I'll keep you inform as soon as I have new info.
thanks again. much appreciated.
