you may need to upgrade to a newer version of drs depending on which one you have, so i have included drs 6.16

just extract folder to c:\detroit diesel and copy/merge/overwright files as needed.

when you run drs it will tell you it is being upgraded and shut back down, this is just giving you the new server updates to install new ecm versions. Click program, if truck does not have a matching serial to whats on you list, it will let you select from a list what you want to program and you should see all serials you listed plus 06R1999999. this is the turbo actuator program for use with dddl 6.44 and higher. save all accumulated data before programming. as it might loose all accumulated data during reprogram.

for those of you using the drssec.dll fix, do not use that, that is an old parallel crack and does not work with this version. go to a topic that states ddrs help, i have posted a link to sentinelkeyw.dll, copy and replace. that is a usb engineer crack.

the answer is both, you can plug into the trucks datalink and program an ecu, but is better if you have the bench cables, as better success rate, the only exception is mbe engines you have to have the cables to program. what ecu are you programming?

just find a cal from a ddev 5 engine that has already been upgraded to that rating and create a new cal for your serial number with ddct.

I use the DD parts catalog, at least, it shows the engine model (gk, mk, etc) to have an idea of what kind of engine it is. If somebody needs it, http://rapidshare.com/files/384375871/DDEC_Parts.rar Enjoy!:wavey:

When calibrate my truck using the cal file 06R0730122,the truck starts fine but the accelarater is dead,i cant accelarate the pedal is just dead but no fault codes.if i try a differrent cal file i can accelarate but then i get engine brake open fault codes.by the way this truck does not have engine brake fitted on it.
could this be the cal file or what?

yes its the cal file, because it is not for engine you are using, just change the inputs and outputs to what they need to be, may need to use ddct to change some of them.

I guess there is an option to lock the throttle pedal, but I dont remember if it is on drs, dct or dddl. I'll check it. Makura, check if the cal includes an idle validation switch.

well i am using a cal according to the engine number so it has to be the right cal.
The pedal does not have a validation switch, just has three wires going to the pedal.

what you need to do, is program the one you said give you throttle and copy all inputs and parameters (write them down), then program correct one and see what difference is.

True and as well, most cals are put on server before engine ever gets put in truck, so parameters usually aren't 100 percent correct. Most dealers are suppose to update to server so that it gets corrected, but it doesn't happen.

well we are not saying not to use the serial number for engine, just that you always have to recheck and assume parameters might not be correct.

Good day Sir,could you please post cal for the following engine?
I am using DDCT,but also have DDDL and DDRS.
DDCT is looking for what they call "metafiles"

1998 Series 60 500HP DDEC IV

Model # 6067GK60
Serial # 06R0382621

I assume you are downloading these from the detroit mainframe? is it possible to tell the date that they were uploaded to there?

Looks as if this will be the only way i can get these files so,thank you in advance.

Good day fellow forum is very interesting but I could not achieve to get the files for use with the drs

you may need to upgrade to a newer version of drs depending on which one you have, so i have included drs 6.16

just extract folder to c:\detroit diesel and copy/merge/overwright files as needed.

when you run drs it will tell you it is being upgraded and shut back down, this is just giving you the new server updates to install new ecm versions.

You are right. I am seeing this problem now on a ddec IV. I was trying to edit inputs and outputs but ddrs6.16 was asking for a password.

Is there a way around this so that I can send new parameters to the ECM?

thanks.

thanks for the quick reply, but, what program is this used with? Sorry,i should have said that i am using DDCT...none of the files in your post are usable in DDCT,unless i am doing something wrong.

What i am looking for is the setup files,or metafiles for my engine.

98 DDEC IV series 60
mod...6067GK60
ser...06R0382621

this was originaly at 500hp/1650ftlbs...but i want to try it at 600hp/1850ftlbs...most guys say just go in and change the hp and torque, but i would think that you must have the proper fuel maps to backup those settings, also BOI settings would come into play too...or am i way off base here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You and keep up the great work.

Here's what I have to do. I open DRS then go back to c: Detroit Diesel / Reprogramming then copy & paste in the cal and unit files from jabkissmya.

If I put them in before I open DRS most or all of the files disappear and they disappear after I close DRS. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have tried several things and it's always the same result. What I'm doing works but it seems the files should stay there.

First check it out where is your DDEC reprogramming system folder in C drive "detroit Diesel". probably----- C:\Detroit Diesel.

Then Open DRS and leave it opened.

Then copy your CAL files and paste it into ----C:\Detroit Diesel\DDEC Reprogramming System\Cal.

Same as copy and paste UNIT files to --------C:\Detroit Diesel\DDEC Reprogramming System\unit.

Then go to DRS and start with programme ecm and press ok, you will find all engine serial numbers in a row. follow it and it should work.

if you have any prob , pm me

The problem with detroit is the serial numbers dont tell what they are like a cat or cummins. You can convert each one to dct and it will tell you this but it is a slow process. With dct you can change anything you want just use moderation until you learn what you are doing.I only use drs to burn blank ecm. Then I use dct to change what I want.

just a thought, but i just found this in another thread...but come to think of it,i think this will only effect the temp correction, which will not change the overall settings...maybe we need to look further for the main setting tables and do something similar with those...worth a try i think...

Tip for the day. To increase fuel, open calibration, go to:

SHARED, TABLES, temperature compensation, torque_temp_correction

Left click top corner of the 1D table so the whole table turns black. Right click, select block offset and add whatever percentage you want to increase horsepower by. I.E 0.1 = 10% horsepower and torque increase.

Whoo Hoo, there'll be some blown apart green motors now!!!!

The ir is no manual or info on the dct except for the help file that I know of.The best source of info is to read and reread the dct thread here on DK.More info on here than anywhere else that I am aware of.As far as increasinf power with dct it is more of a trial and error thing.Just go slow and make minor changes until you lear what you are doing. Also you can take another cal from a higher horsepower motor and download it.If you choose this route make 100% sure that they have same cam, injectors, ect.,or you wont get the performance you want.Hope this helps.

Friend, spamming all the dk threads wont get the cals for you.If you wil go to post 191 there is big download available.Just run the serial numbers through a parts program and find one with matching injectors and configuration.Should be one that will work.Might have to change i/o conf. Will get you going though.

Yes,drs will program a blank ecm. Before you copy files into drs,you must first have it running in desktop. If you shut down drs,you will have to reload your cals and start over.Good luck!

Please, I hope someone can help me with this process.
I'm helping a mechanic friend to change or convert the ECM from DDEC II to DDEC IV. The engine is a 6067GU60 350HP 1350lb-ft (06R0059474), he would like to upgrade the engine or calibrate the ECM to at least 1650lb-ft too.
I would like to know which calibration I need to this engine model in DDECIV ECM?
My understanding is that I need to calibrate the "new" ECM DDEC IV with DDRS but I dont know which calibration I need to use to this engine model with an original DDEC II calibration to making it work with a DDEC IV ECM.
Please if some can guide me how to do this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

No I havent. What reason do you have for wanting to change? If horsepower gains is all you are looking for camshaft advance and dct will do this.Is this a 11.1?Does this engine have top cooled liners? If it doesnt this engine wont standvery high horsepower very good.

Click on comms and you will get a drop down list.Near bottom click convert. It will ask which version to convert to.Choose rel5d.Click save.It will convert the cal for you now.You should have another cal on left side now that something like rel5d.Download this and you should be good to go,I dont know if you can convert from32 to 5 but worth the try.Big difference in memory.I have changed 32 to 9 so maby it will work.Good luck friend!

to screen cap, press the "print screen" button on your keyboard, on my laptop it shares the f11 button, on my desktop it's above the number pad. this will copy the current screen to your clipboard. paste it into a graphics program and save. to capture the currently selected window only press alt+printscreen

look at the calibration for esn 06r0039879the description for this is for converting ddec 2 to ddec III. i got this calibration from this thread you could open the files in drs, and then generate calibrations automaticly which will make the serial number of the engine the name of the calibration, then go into dct, click on open calibration, in the open calibration window there is a comment line, one of them says ddecII to ddec III.

if you don't do this you will have to make sure that you change your trs pulses per revolution to 6 rather than 36. i've never done this but i know it can be done

you might not be able to just put a 1650 program in. had a friend who's ecm was blanked by another guy. he put his brothers 500 hp ecm on his 430 and the thing barely ran. higher hp engines use bigger injectors so the pulse widths are generally narrower. put this program on an engine with small injectors and you have less power than before

amishmafia00,

You obviously sound like you have done this several times...
What would you recommend as the best way to defuel a series 60 DDECIV, 12.7 L, pulse width or fueling table. We are looking to cut back on the fuel by about 10%. Would it be best to adjust the whole fuel table by "MULT x .90"? Or adjusting the pulse width to a smaller number.

We currently do this with the Cummins ISX series very successfully, but the DDECIV is a new one for us.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

The reman is 06RE..... as all of the engines we are working on, aprox 820 are like that. They are remanufactured engines with DDEC IV upgrades and placed into Brand new frames. It allows the customer to legally run the EPA non-current-engine. The problem we see is the reman engines are not all consistent in their performance or durability.

Thanks all for the fantastic input into training this "slow learner" here. The combination of DDRS, DDCT, Diagnostic Link, showed us that DD still has a chance...:D

The variation in power and performance has to do with variable cam timing due to cheap made inconsistant gear train.Air to air leaks, overhead not right,(and no I didnt say in detroit specs),lo nox cals ect. contributes to this. When you get everything right they are pretty consistant. You have to spend alot of time and effort to do this. Most mechanics wont go to this kind of effort. That is what we get paid to do every day. When I was hourly mechanic I wouldnt spend this kind of time either.Very time consuming and tedious to get everything(and I do mean everything)right.

Does anyone know what the digital Input voltages are...we are guessing 12 volt on a 12 volt truck due to the switches on the cruise control etc. If we used one of the input to switch to an "alternate HP calibration", i.e. #1 or #2, are there any other ramifications we need to look at?

Thanks in advance.
