what im after is a recessed led thats around 20mm in diameter no more than that,i want about 6,,,,normal recessed lights are 70mm plus so thats why im after led plus its cheaper to run led and when you have a housefulll of kids who never switch lights off it becomes expensive using mains voltage lighting i also want to create a different lighting effect in an upstairs landing

You can buy 10mm single LEDS. There is not much available at 20mm in the way of multi LED units.

Found these but there are no prices:

RL20 Mini Marker
The RL20 series is a 20mm miniature recessed marker light comprising of a single high performance LED emitter.
Constructed from high grade 316 stainless steel with toughened glass lens the fitting provides a wide angle illumination and is rated to IP65.

Operation is from 12vdc low voltage power supply.

LED Lighting - Recessed Fittings (http://www.plusopto.co.uk/ledlighting/recessedfittings.html)

They are based in lancashire though so might be in luck:

10 mm would be fine just no bigger than 20mm

If you use the 3 watt luxeons or similar they do get incredibly hot. You really need to mount them on aluminium to disperse the heat

The 10mm normal LEDS don't get hot but are not as bright.

The problem is that if you use the 10mm you will have to make your own power supply for them which is fairly straightforward but does take some time.

Off the shelf drivers for these things are not very efficient, you can make better use of the power you supply by working it out yourself.

There are loads of 10mm pre wired on eBay and power supplies to suit.
