Ok I have had so many of these keys come into work lately faulty. Im sure you all know the keys im talking about, its the Toyota keys with either 1 or 2 buttons on the side of the head, used in Corollas, Altezza's etc. They just crap out all the time. Putting them on my Remote tester shows they lose transmission, no transmitting signal is seen on tester. I have cracked 2 of these little barstards open so far and I just cant see what goes wrong with them, anyone know what the problem with these little barstards are?

Nothing is wrong with them, I have customers all day... I just change the case and a new battery! If the small red led is on when you press the button then everything is ok. Usually the tester doesn't show any signal because of the low frequency waves. If you put a new battery and work the remote without the key cover on one side you will get signal if you have a good tester... It's either 312, 314.2 or 315 !!

On a side note, if it takes a CR2032 battery then pop it out and shove two CR2016s. That should wake them up. Works great on aftermarket remotes and gives longer range. Down side is batters don't last as long. lol

Never heard of that number? Is it CR 1632 instead?
CRxx32, xx is the width of the battery. So All CR2016, CR2025, CR2032, etc.. is the same width
CR20xx, xx is the height of the battery. So a CR2025 is taller than a CR2016. CR2032 is taller than a CR2025 and twice the thickness of a CR2016.
CR2016 x 2 = CR2032 in size but double the power. It's safe for remotes. I had a talk with a DEI rep about some remotes being very weak in range. He quietly told me to replace the CR2032 with two CR2016. And it did in fact help with the low range.

I have found the difference between the remotes that program normally and the other that wont program, I think its not a matter of battery...

Dont worry guys, I'll make a thread about that but waiting a confirmation about my results, I'm curious my self about that and you can see from my profile that I have posted more than three threads asking about this issue without answer, BTW im talking only about Toyota HYQ14AAB smart keys refuse to program...
