the above car had no power steering so the customer fitted new pump. the problem is the pump continues when engine turned off and drains battery. the pump plugs and harnes look good and not burned out. obviously the fuse under fusebox must be ok for pump to have power to run. i am thinking the new pump must be faulty but would like a second opinion before condeming it. i know the control unit gets a "message" that the engine is running but i cannot find a diagram relating to the 3 wire plug and where this message comes from, thanks steve

Can't u just change the power supply to ignition and not constant feed at the motor on the pump

Does it not get its power from the alternator when engine is running, similar to the Merc A class system where the power steering contol module is built in the pump

could fit a relay but as garage has bought a new pump if its faulty may as well return and get a working one. they have a known issue with the pump running on but as its a new pump wondered if anything else could cause the same prob, thanks steve

yes module is in pump but wanted wiring diagram to trace 3 wires from module before replacing pump, thanks steve

i may be wrong (I am a lot of the time + div) would the 3 not be +12 feed, earth & +12 (engine running) feed from alternator

will check tomorrow. sounds plausible but i "thought" it may be comms from/to ecu. suppose ill have to stop being lazy and follow/test the wires. thanks steve
