customer drove car to garage and parked it up, garage replaced belt and greased alternator bearing

now the car refuses to start, is in economy mode, was attemted to "tow start" and eco mode went off but car still didnt start

any help is appreciated

ps. the error codes wer

First check via pp2000 is ecu has synchronization (camshaft/crankshaft sensor), if not check timing belt.
Also can check rail pressure that it is correct.

Hi Z786,

On 406 when Drive Belt snaps some times it gets into the crank pulley and goes into cam belt.

So its worth checking the Timing Belt and if its OK than try cold Boost for BSI resetting it might have run with flat battery.

Synchronization (camshaft/crankshaft sensor) will only show when the Engine is running.

Hope this helps.

When engine stop You are right, pp2000 show that is no synchronisation but When engine is starting( try to running), in parameters pp2000 also show that synchronisation is or not.

SECOND WHAT ASH SAYS.

P0341 - FUNNY THAT HAD THAT THE OTHERDAY, THE CAMSENSOR WAS TOO FARAWAY FROM THE LUMPYSTICK, UNDIDSCREW SLID FORAWARD.

UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANSES GET A CROWBAR AND PRISE THE ROCKER COVER OFF, THE CAM FOLLERS ARE BASICALLY 'MECHANICAL FUSES' NICE IDEA BUT *VERY VERY* EXPENSIVE.

If You want to get out BSI from economy mode there are two ways how to do that.
1. Run the engine on carbsparay or easy start(if it's running),
2. With PP2000 there is option called "show room mode". Put car in show room mode and then get it back to "customer mode" and BSI will be back to life!

I have seen on a 407 1.6 hdi where the aux belt came off and the strands of the belt damaged the magnetic ring on the crankshaft/cambelt pully....would'nt start once the magnetic outer ring was damaged....not so sure if the 406's have the same setup...?..if it does then it maybe your problem...solution was replace the magnet ring were the camshaft reads its position .
As unar has said check the camshaft/crankshaft sensor synchronization with parameter measurments....:top:
