I dont have virgin but my friends do and have starview boxes that are awesome. Just wondering if there is the same available on sky?

Dont think I have explained properly.

My Friends have Virgin Media and have Starview boxes which are great.

I have Sky and wondering if there is something similar that works on Sky?

no, nothing that is plug and play..

there is but you need to be competent with IT, networking skills and then you need to be able to find someone to 'give' you sky for free..
