Anyone know of the following fault(s) on a Yaris 1.5 vtti. I have not seen the car as it is a family friends and they live quite a distance away but are coming down later in the week and have asked me to have a look. I have never worked on a yaris or similar so after some advise.
They told me they took the car to a local ind garage as they were shafted by Toyota in the past this is what they have been told by the local garage
"it is the idle speed sensor and that it drains the battery, makes the car use more petrol and makes the engine run too fast. They replaced the battery and have said that it is not urgent to sort out and that it could wait until the new year but that they cannot do it and that she needs to go to the Toyota garage and that it will be very expensive and she must get it done as it will kill the battery and use a lot of fuel. "
I have never heard of a idle speed sensor killing the battery anything i should look at i have heard they have problems with VVT system could this be what the garage means?
