I have recently purchased a usb external hard drive(Chinese vendor) with VMware Player and DAS XENTRY installed on it. DAS version is 2010.07. DAS appears to work fine but when I run Xentry (Version 7.1.6) after a short time I get an error message about the disk being full and the programme terminates. I copied the contents of the hard drive to my laptop which I use for running vehicle diagnostic applications, DAS works fine but when trying to start Xentry a message saying ?NO ACCESS AUTHORISATION CODE? appears. The program then terminates. There is an application called STAR Utilites which I have run and selected StartKey manager, selected XENTRY Diagnostics and the other fields have auto populated and given me a Start key, when I trying saving this key an error message appears saying ?save not succesfull? Hardware ID of the machine does not match to the encoded software.
2 questions ?is it possible to get Xentry working from the laptop?.if not? how do I cure the disk being full on the external drive.
P.S the date on the VM Machine constantly reverts back to Jan 2008 even tho i apply correct date and time & reboot, not sure if this has any bearing on matters
Any help, guidance or assistance greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to increase the Virtual Machine hard drive size?
You can request a new Xentry key from this forum (search for the appropriate thread, or post your IDs here) to make it work after you have moved it.

DK Thank you for your swift reply.
As yet no i havent tried increasing any of the hard drive sizes, i have looked at the drive on the usb external HDD and when the virtual machine is running it shows 4 in total...C D F etc, i am a little unsure which of the 4 to alter the size of and wasnt sure if by altering the sizes i would lose the data written to them... on the laptop where i have a "copy" of the HDD when the virtual machine is running it only shows 1 drive (C)... I will connect the external HDD drive up again over xmas and see if it indicates which of the 4 drives needs increasing.
Thanks again for the advice

I was guessing if the size allocated for the virtual machine hard drive was not sufficient. I guess it could be an issue with one of the partitions too.
Why not have a look at the "My Computer" view when you run the virtual machine, set "show details" and see how much free space each partition has.
If one is running out of space, it would be better to delete redundant info first before trying to change the partition size.
I cannot remember but I guess the VM can be configured for a fixed size hard drive (like a real hard drive would have a fixed size). This allocated size can be changed from the VM settings, at least with the later versions.
I think you already did check that the external drive itself is not full (equally as the drive on the computer you are running the SW).
I was not able to figure out which drive the error message is referring to but it does not take a lot of time to check all options.

DB, Thanks again for your prompt response.
Yes i will investigate the size of the partitions on the VM when running from the usb HDD.
Unfortunately i do not have enough hours in the day with the run up to xmas so might be a few days until i can post my results.
Thanks DB i will let you know how i get on.
