Main dealer tool,or eeprom way,but if you have an ad100 pro,they are going to realise the volvo key programming sotware, list of types and release date,unknown im afraid.

In my workshop have 3 cars same type xc90 and s 80 2004 years

AE Tools & Computers---makers of DMAX in the US can assist with Volvo. They have hardware and software to communicate and get key programmed. May need to be on the phone with them to do so perhaps.

Volvo of USA has only one place doing all keys for dealer orders in California. Just shows how tight Volvo wants it to be.

By keeping the key technology a secret, they have locked out legitimate car owners outside USA and Europe and worse within third world countries. The result, poor resale value for volvo cars on the used market and generally poor image for the volvo brand. Locksmiths, mechanics will say, Hell for you if you lose volvo key or key loses sync. So is this good? Either of key is anti theft to lock out unauthorized duplication not to lock out car owner in the case of accidental loss or damage, car gets packed like a garbage at garage .. .. too bad

if my custmer or family friend ask my advice on this kind of cars,i always say them stay away from volvo crap buy something elsr or keep allmost $4-5 k seperte for unexpected repairs. insane cars
