it will convert any ebooks into the EPUB format needed for the above devices.

download iBooks its free from iStore on your device, its like a library to keep your books in

then in itunes just add the books to your library and sync

All iDevices will handle PDF ebooks...no need to convert

Thats true fijiman, however and I may be incorrect but I don't think that Mobi file will work on ipad but calibre can convert Mobi to Epub.
So although PDF is a friendly file which doesn't need calibre there are a few files that would need it. Its just a handy piece of software to add to the collection :)
