What year is the car? Tacho universal only can do CAS2 (white box untill +/-2005) but I don't trust this method (read manual), better is to make a backup first before zeroing the CAS. So buy a red clone CAS R260 programmer and you can do this job save. Most clusters need a new chip, I think you don't got a M35080v6 eraser.

2005 models have cas 2.
R260 / upa can not make cas by obd2. you have to solder wires.
and tacho universal can make it trough tacho plug!

I tried it with TU. 1st I took a small fuse according to the instructions. Shut off the key. I've plugged into the connector. I put E61 CAS and showed that the old miles just ????????. I entered a new and confirmed km. TU show on and off lights. So I did, but at this point, nothing happens .....

Hello mate I think you have a CAS 3 unit as it changes roughly from 2005 cas 2 to cas 3 if im not wrong if dash has m305080vp chip then it should be a cas 3 which you can do via R260 programmer which involves small soldering points, but you must change the dash chip.

Remove the box ( 2 minutes) and look at the color of the CAS.

if you remove the box on your left (3 screw) then you can see the color of your cas. (white is cas 2 en black is cas 3).
then remove 1 bolt en 2 plugs en you have cas out.
watchout with flat cable, is very fragile!!!

Method:

? Warning: remove cluster
? Take keys and place well away, preferrably indoors
? Open Glovebox
? Remove inner panel by untwisting 2 plastic 1/2 turn screws
? Locate fuse board
? Pull small 5 Amp fuse as indicated on your E60 CAS PDF (long nosed pliers help)
? Connect CAN dongle to box, connect CAS lead to CAN dongle and insert into cluster plug as shown on your E60 CAS PDF taking care to connect to pin 1 as indicated
? Your box will now power up
? Warning: At this point, if any doors are open, leave them open and if they are closed, leave them closed.
? Warning: Do not press/touch any buttons or switches.
? Go to BMW > 5 > E60/61> CAS Prog
? Enter 1000km
? Box will show HW/SW version for about 5 seconds
? Box will show lights on/off - turn lights on/off
? Box will show "Pull Fuse" - pull fuse as indicated in your E60 CAS PDF (long nosed pliers help)
? Box will show "Replace Fuse" - replace fuse as indicated in your E60 CAS PDF (long nosed pliers help)
? Bos shows "OK" after another 5 or so seconds and resets
? Disconnect your box
? Replace fuse as as indicated in your E60 CAS PDF (long nosed pliers help)
? Replace cover in glove box
? Replace cluster
? Reset service indicator as indicated in your E60Service reset PDF
