The Sky+ box I have receives channels no problem but I can't record or play back a recording i've previously had before the box stopped recording. The box will just freeze and I have to switch it off at the mains. If anyone knows if there is anything I can do to repair this i'd be really grateful thanks.

Sounds like the hdd is faulty.

Is it still under warranty?

No. This is the second box it's happened with and they only seem to last just over a year or so :(

something similar happened to my HD box,
after reformatting the hard drive everything was OK again
you will loose all recordings, all instructions are in this file:

just stick around after downloading and contribute where you can
that's what makes this a excellent forum

I wonder could you help me. My sky+box has frozen on standbye and will not work at all. Previous to it freezing it was stuck on one program and the remote would not work so I switched it off for 1 minute then switched it off again and its been stuck on standbye since. Its just over 12 months old and the booklet that came with it is amstrad so I presume the box is amstrad (I'm not very good at technical things)

To perform a full reset:
1) Switch off the box at the mains
2) Whilst holding down the left and right arrows on the front of the box (either side of the Select switch), power on the box. After a second or two, the Sky 'ring' will light.
3) hit the 'Select' button on the front panel - this will reformat the drive and reset the box. This can take a few minutes and the ring will 'whirl' backwards to show it's working.

try that it might work
