Hi members i have upgraded my friends EMachine 420 to windows 7,i simply put more memory into it formated the HD and tat was it,now it wont let me resize my settings it says that ive tried the optomizer but it still says You cant change your settings because the hight of your display is less than 600 pixels This gives me a problem when you bring up a web page you cant read it without either scrooling down or across the page, when i reduce it to 75 or 68% its hard to read.i never had this problem with my monitor before ,It also says that there is no audio devices installed ?? it has built in audio and a built in graphics, any suggestions are welcome,The resolution are saying 640 x 480 and Generic PnP Monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter.

sounds like you need to get the drivers for the motherboard as your graphics and sound are onboard, you need to find make and model of the motherboard then search for the drivers for windows 7.

here is the support site for your computer/laptop
eMachines Support: Drivers and Downloads (http://www.emachines.com/support/drivers.html)
find the name for your computer and select it and download your drivers :)

Ive been on that site looks helpful but i only know that the pc is a Emachine 420 and when you look for drivers ,you cant seem to find them as it asks you for the modle make and the series, and there is nothing for a 420,does it come under another description

Get this > SIW | System Information for Windows by Gabriel Topala (http://www.gtopala.com/)
It will tell you what MOBO you've got, Audio, Graphics,Chipset etc, then you can d/l the Win 7 drivers for them respectively..
Or, you can just install 7 as it will automatically install drivers for most things (separate graphics card being the exception, although windows does a very good job with its unofficial drivers)
For Win 7 to install drivers automatically, you must have pc connected to web
