Why on all my hd channels using open box the picture is always 1080i and never gos to 1080p which I think is better picture than 1080i? My TV is LG full HD and I am talking about both fta and encrypted channels.

Thanks

Satellite television is broadcast in 1080i. Same resolution as 1080p but its just displayed in a different way. 1080p tends to be better for sporting events which have fast motions.

Nothing you can do about watching it in 1080p that would make a difference since the signals natively 1080i

The picture on HD channels is good but quite dark, I looked at display settings on the box : brightness, contrast and another atttrib I forgot what is was were all 50 so I increased the brightness to 75 but still quite darky pic. so not sure what is wrong? Is it my TV?
Anyone can suggest best settings to go with on the box and TV to get best picture on HD?

Cheers

I changed the settings from 1080i_50 to 1080i_60 and defently better, thanks guy. On a different issue does this box have auto scan feature to pick new channels? Reason for this question that I know to resolve the reboot issue you have to delete the offending channel from the channel list but if you do scan again to get new channels the offending channel will appear again.

Go to king of sat and look for any changes or new channels, there is a date beside the frequencies, it's normally in red if it changed lately. Enter in the frequency manually and put the channel in place where you like.
