Yesterday i fell over an S3 2008 trying do reflash it...

So ID works fine with MagPro2,try read...error....

So took MPPS...ID fine,try read...error....

So i checked OBD connector etc...

After a while customer remebered he tryed Chiptuning from Oettinger...which cancels after 6 hours:celticparty:

BTW same time Oettinger also installs Copyprotection...clearly...who not...

So should i or shouldnt i put new mod file in? I am not sure about...?

BUT MORE INTERESTENING TO ME....

HOW GENERATE an flashfile which cancels it self after 6 hours?

Does anybody have an idea on this:stupido2:

You should be able to reflash it without any problem.

But in order to make sure try to get the original file from somewhere and write that first.

think they Use a parallel socket CMOS EEprom that after a certain time stops current through Vcc pin. leaving the original Eeprom working alone.

I always asked myself how they do it.

All have been done by OBD...5 minutes work from Oettinger.

ABT uses hw copyprotection...was able to read but not write...opened ecu tada...found.

No Oettinger wont loose 1 hour for 6 hou tuning free probe.

All must done fast reliable by OBD

Oettinger is not the only one who have this. Revo uses it to.

Your optinon (try to find original and write that first) is exactly what they want other tuers to do.
This way you could not see how it is made...

I'm sure Bogdan could help you with your answers. I think he might be intrested on how it's done also...

I've bought a Revo ecu with this option on also 2 years ago. never opend it... should do it one day. ;-)

The guy where i bought the ecu from Also told me Revo DID NOT took out the ecu. he flashed the file in. the guy went for a ride and a truck entered in his back. carr total loss before Revo time was expired. ;-)

Looks a little like Revo then?
I read a Revo tuned ecu once and the only major changes are in the EErom.
I think they manipulate the factory calibration data and add some routine working on the running time clock?
Usually after this probe time the power is less than original.
(With revo this is thrue tested it on the rollingroad)

So time should only go down when ECU is in car..as they need be powered up i suppose?

Will check if i can read it by BDM? But im pretty sure it wont work:puke:

thought you wanted to just flash a new file in it. not read it.
Who cares about the mod file, mine is better :D
it s not like they are going to steal my work..

I bought it not for the revo file. but for the 'system'
For now i'm not at the stage i 'need' it. but would be nice feature.

@ easytech, what was the result on the dyno? what car, engine?

It s not the copy protection which is interestening...but the way how to manipulate that file or eerom etc...

To let guy try the car with mod and after some hour the tuning is goone...and he can think about if he wanna chiptune or not his car...

The car I mentioned was a Seat Leon 1,8T with ME7.5.
Original it was 180BHP after tuning 210 and after test period 160BHP. At the end I had to repair both flash and Eeprom.
