volvo vida 2010a comm.problem

maybe someone can help me.i have vida 2010a loaded on ibm t30 laptop.i have an orig. volvo vct2000.when i try to communicate with the vehicle,i get a communication error.if i keep trying eventually it will automatically read it.this is anying,sometime i will mess around for 20mins trying to read the car.i checked the comm.port settings,the are correct.can anyone give me any ideas on how to fix this?it does it on almost every car.

Do you have the latest VCT2000 firmware? Select the right partner group?:hmmmm:

You may have a bad OBD cable the one that runs from the VCT to the car if your using a OEM this is a very common problem and one of the reasons Volvo went to Dice .If you have the black box upstream from the car connector you can remove the four screws and make sure the plugs ar all the way into the board .
