Hi All,

I hope I've put this posting in the correct place. If not could it be relocated please?

This maybe a stupid question but I haven't found the answer despite searching the Internet so I thought I'd ask here.

Please can someone tell me the differences between the Carsoft 7.4 multiplexer and the MB Star setup. Am I correct in thinking that the Carsoft is just a package that's sold with the cheap multiplexer? If so is the big difference in the multiplexer supplied, if it is what are the differences please?

I bought a Carsoft 7.4 multiplexer to try to check the faults on my A170 CDi. This seems very limited in the info and live data generated compared to what I've seen displayed by a Lexia clone on a Citroen C5.

Thanks.

Steve.

The two are pretty much completely different animals. To the extent that Carsoft reads codes and clears those, they are similar but Star is much more. Also depends on the car to be diagnosed, Carsoft 7.4 does not do many new MBs at all.

Since you are familiar with Carsoft, why not download the necessary SW and install all the Star SW and run it in simulation mode to become familiar with it. Then you can purchase the multiplexer later on if (when) you feel interested.

Thanks for the info and the idea about running the Star software in simulation mode. Is it esy to find?

I'd be looking to sort out my V Reg W168 170CDi, which has problems with the heater booster, A/C and engine errors if pushed too hard.

Is it the case that Star is able to use CANBUS whereas the Carsoft is all K Line based? If this is the case is this the reason for the limited info from the Carsoft when connected to my W168 and will Star allow me to access more systems and run test.

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks again.

Steve.

Hi All,
This maybe a stupid question but I haven't found the answer despite searching the Internet so I thought I'd ask here.

hi!

not sure dear friend, I have the same one...

till last days I got a mercedes w140 who was working fine...
(so fine that's it's been stolen :dong: )

I used a "cheap" multiplexer with carsoft on the 38 pin plug... all was ok

to replace the w140 i plan buying a w220, with OBD ;
i have the ODB plug too ,

so do I NEED buying another 'expensive' multiplexer to use DAS
or will my multiplexer will work with DAS ?

So, what is really the hardware diference between these tools ?

tahnks for precisions...
