Hi guys

Can anyone recommend a good battery charger to maitain stable current when reflashing a BMW engine computer?

I was looking at the Schumacher SE-5212A and the SC7500A as options

Any recommendations will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

Here (http://www.wikihow.com/Convert-a-Computer-ATX-Power-Supply-to-a-Lab-Power-Supply) you learn how to build one yourself with PC psu.

BMW ask for minimum 13V for flashing, so you will need a 13,8V switching power battery charger.

Hi guys

Thanks for all the suggestions. I thought i could use the Schumacher SC-7500A, but doing some work with BMW DIS and Progman using this charger i noticed that voltage would not stabilize above 12.5 volts, thus i am not taking the chance with my personal vehicle and less with future cutomer flashes. I have decided to go with the Snap-on EEBC500. I have been told this is the charger recommended by BMW themselves, so i am going make an investment worthwhile.

I use a regular car charger for VW Bosch.

Set it at 2 amps, turn off lights. Only takes 3 minutes to flash. You can always set it at 6 amps. MPPS isnt picky about voltage it seems.

Also, a booster does the trick, I always use it, never had an error.

I recommend Midtronic 55 at least. The voltage must me 13.4 13.7 volts but stable all the time. A regular charger may and will fry your module.

a common RV (motor home) POWER INVERTER will work fine for you, just search on e-bay for it. Using an additional car battery may lead to a gradual voltage dropping , depending on the modules and time needed for programming can take up to 3 or more hours. During programming electric fan and accessories will power up by themselves.

I use a snap on booster pack which is always charged up. Works a treat. If for some reason its runnin a little low i use my sterling power smart battery charger.
