got a non starting 2001 astra with the y17dt motor, the symptoms are, it tries to start and coughs and splutters and runs very very roughly for about 3 secs then dies. The only fault code i can get is P0216 (004) Injection timing control circuit voltage low. Can anyone help shed some light please? been told it could be the timing solenoid on the pump? have tried a known good EDU before anyone asks :).............

Check wires between ECU and timming control valve:

ok will do, does the wiring go straight to the ecu? if so, would you know the pin outs? btw thanks for answering this ;)

First check fuel pressure from fuel tank to pump (you can take bottle with fuel and connect to intake pipe of fuel pump and try to start)
after check belt
-check all pipe from injector and to fuel tank
-small pressure of pump- problem with pump

This error indicates that the pump can not properly expose fuel

or ecu problem ;)

I dont think so - problem with pump or fuel pressure Try as I wrote and send msg

will check all fuel pipes, and for air leaks etc, also filter, and will check the wiring on the solenoid itself as it says low voltage?

Check wires m8, because you have low voltage, also you can get another valve from a scrapyard to swap.

itbh that will be my first port of call, then if that fails, i'll try the basics.......... :D i know it's a bit arse about face, but the P-code is pointing me to a fault so that's where i'll start :) i've got a y17dtl corsa, so might rape that for bits................

sorry to bump an old thread, but i finally got around to looking at this today! lol!, got as far as stripping the pump to be able to get to the solenoid ( a bugger to get to! lol! ), and also took the top ECU plugs off, the bottom plug nearest the slam had a corroded and loose pin! not good! it feeds a brown/white wire, gave it all goo clean out with carb cleaner and dried it all off, gave it a quick try, still nothing, it sort of fires but is really lumpy an only runs for a second an dies, i also cracked each injector off, got fuel to all 4 while cranking ( at some pressure too! ). My next step will be to find out what the pin outs on the ecu are if anyone can help? bit relcutant to just start swapping solenoids/pumps etc at this point........

check resistance wires:must be 1-2ohm
pin14(ecu pompe)......pin1 (timming control valve)
pin20(ecu pompe)......pin2 (timming control valve)
timming control valve: pin1and pin2=1,5ohm
if all is ok change pompe injection

so check resistance between pin 14 and 20 on the pump EDU or ECU? an it should be 1-2 ohms, and pin 1 and 2 on the solenoid an it should be 1.5 ohms? if these readings aren't correct it could be the pump?

it's so clear man
pin 14 and pin 20 in pompe EDU
if wires resistance is 1 to 2 ohm
if resistance selenoid is 1,5 ohm
change pompe

see if there is a leak from the valve to the back of the pump if it has changed and the problem should disappear lighting
