I'm having trouble with my Hdd. Occasionally, the drive will disappear from the system. I have to open the unit and play with the IDE cable. Put it back together and it works again.
I'm pretty sure it is the cable. I have tried replacing it with a standard 80 strand IDE ribbon cable from a computer but then the hdd is not detected correctly. It is detected but indicates there is <3.1Mb space...
I have tried the cable either way round. Even removed one of the plugs from the end and refitted it to match the old cable orientation.
Any one come across this before or have any clues??
