What is the BEST jailbreaking tools for iphone 3GS/4G 4.2.1?

Do you guys know which is the simplest tools to use for jailbreaking iphone 4.2.1

There is limerain, redsnow, green spoison etc.. really confusing for newbie like me. My phone is jailbroken on firmware 4.1. So now how do I go about 4.2.1?

Do I update first then jailbreak with greenposion etc?

Greenpoison is the only tool available for untethered jailbreak on the latest firmware.

Backup and update via iTunes and the run the jailbreak.

if i jailbreak with green poison, will i lose all my data in my iphone. I asked because my iphone was jailbroken by a shop. I not sure what program he uses. Everything is set up for me and I just use it.
So if I upgrade my iphone firmware and jailbreak, will I lose everything in my phone?

how do you unlock them? 05.15.04 firmwear version 4.2.1 tryed greenpoision can not get it to work

Ultrasn0w only supports certain basebands

You have to update to 6.15.0 baseband(ipad baseband) to unlock in ultrasn0w.. you will more than likely loss gps when you do so.

I have a 3gs with the same settings and after updating baseband in Redsnow and jailbreaking with greenpoison and unlocking with ultrasnow.. turns out my phone has a blocked imei lol.. good thing I really only wanted it for a 16gb ipod, the apps and some wifi ainternet. was worth the risk for the price I got it though.... I can always sell or swap it to someone from a different country.
