I have a person coming out to install a motor onto my dish, but the person isnt very familiar with the dreambox 500s, i have had it set up pointing at hotbird 13 deg and it has been working great but not i want to see more. Is there anything i can do to my box in preperation for getting the motor fitted, maybe add a bigger satellite xml file and bouquets. Once the motor is installed is there a step by step guide on what to do as soon as it is up so i can test it before the installer leaves?
i have looked at the stickys but cant find anything.
thanks

u can download a boquet and make sure your long and lat is entered into the box mate if ur getting horbird already then just download it and do long and lat when he arrives or when hes doing dish will only take a few secs but he will need boquet to set dish up on 1 west buddy

Just set it to what ever sat you know you can get for your area or size of dish.
A lot of ppl say bbc on 1w but it does not really matter as long as you can get the sat.
You can use a pre install bouquet or set the box up for multi sat.
Press menu option 6 then sat and transponders then sat configuration then pick the multi sat option.
Now goto sat find and pick the desired sat. Say 13e or 28e. 28 will give you a high % so pick that.
Once you get the highest % lock down the sat and store pos on box.
Usals doesnt work great if at all on the dm500s so Id opt to manually find the other sats. Just move E to W and see what you pick up, bearing in mind that not all sats give the same % for lock and sync.
28 - 95/96%, 23 - 82%, 19 95/96%, 16 i get 76% 13 i get 87% and 9 is 90%
Based on a 80cm dish west of Scotland.
Also remember that different boxes will give you different signal %,

I agree with Rodbouy, usals is almost useless on the dm500. In my experience manual setup takes time but is relatively simple as long as the dish/motor are aligned properly.
