guys dont use PCB rev4 if ou want to erase NEC sprinter key i killed two seconhand keys when i try to erase them.
use pcb rev2 it works.

my pcb 4a never work , i have 2 with ZIF and to soldering. both can`t read password and erase key.

I use the abrites key pcbs. They work fine and you can rewrite them without problems, you don?t need to erase them before writing new dump, just overwrite. The quality and the price (25 Euro) is ok, but the shipping costs are too much with 65 Euro to germany. I don?t understand this price policy. They could ship them in a small letter for a few euros.

My pcb4a works fine. I own the solder pcb and the pcb with zif socket. With rom57 keys no problems, abprog reads the password and does not damage the original key with brute force attack. You cannot read rom51 with abprog, it is impossible ! Abrites says, just some versions of rom51 are working, but it exists just ONE VERSION with ONE PART number. There are no different kinds of rom 51, just ONE, and this one does not work !! Unacceptable, they make promotion with functions without function in reality...

The get the password on all FBS3 systems with abprog and protag by the "new calculating way" without soldering is false !!

1. HC05 EIS (older w202/w210/w208). You can read EIS dump with 38pin diagnostic plug, but you have to dessolder HC05E6 from key and read the dump with UPA or Xprog to get the password. As far as i know, there is no way to read these key mcu?s with abprog. In older versions of mbcommander, the EIS dump readed by diagnostic plug is readable with skc. Then you can type password to skc, calculate keys and write dump to key mcu with UPA or Xprog.
Other way, with new mbcommander version, dump readed by diagnostic plug. Now, dump is crypted, you cannot open in skc for example. You have to dessolder HC05E6 key mcu and read it with upa or xprog to get the password. Calculate key with Abrites online, use the password readed by programmer, calculate key and write the dump with programmer to the old motorola key. Key does NOT work !! Waste of time !
The best way with these EIS modules is to go the old fashioned way. Dessolder external MCU, read with programmer, calculate key with skc and write to key mcu with proper programmer. Works always !!

I tried to teach in a donor EIS. I readed the FBS-datas from the original EIS. Then, i virginized the donor EIS and wanted to teach in with FBS datas... Does not work !!! Abrites worked for 2 hours and nothing... Again, best way to change EIS is the old fashioned way, copy both mcu?s with good programmer and be happy...

2. HC08 EIS (older w203/w209). Abrites works fine. You can read EIS via diagnostic plug and password via IR key... Fast and easy ! I tried 3 times without problems.

I tried to teach in a donor EIS. I readed the FBS-datas from the original EIS. Then, i virginized the donor EIS and wanted to teach in with FBS datas... In this case, it works ! Old keys are fully functional. BUT, in these kinds of EIS modules is the odometer stored. Odometer is not set to 0 km after virginizing. So, you have to buy the abrites odometer special functions to correct.
I have to say again, to use a second hand EIS, best way is to dessolder both mcu and copy them to the mcu?s from the donor EIS. Works without problems. MCU?s are very easy to solder.

3. HC12 EIS (w211 before facelift)

Abrites can read EIS dump via diagnostic plug and sometimes password with IR-key. But without success in my 3 cases. Keys were ROM40. So, again, i had to go old fashioned way. Remove EIS, read dump with xprog and calculate and write key with abrites. Works fine !

4. 9S12 EIS (w211 after facelift)

Abrites can read EIS dump via diagnostic plug. It is impossible to read the password with IR-adapter. Key is ROM57. So, i dessolder NEC mcu and read it via abprog. I have got password within 6 minutes. Calculate key with abrites. Old key and new key work fine !

So, you can see, for older EIS, Abrites is not enough. You need to have a couple of tools. I recommend Abrites, Ak500 with skc and xprog original. They cannot say, all FBS3 systems just with abrites ! Other question, how do you want to write an old motorola key ????

A friend of me, Mario from this forum, tried to make a key without soldering with abrites on w204 with NEC EIS and rom57 key with the new functions with protag and ir key. He showed me everything via whatsapp. He has got the password after 8 minutes without problems. He made an abrites key and everything works fine ! Great news !!

I couldn?t try on car with NEC EIS and BGA key by myself till now. No car in workshop till now.


A big disadvantage on the AVDI system is ABPROG !!! Sometimes, it kills the remote bytes while renewing the key !!! I had the problem 2 times last 2 month. I had to ship the keys to a friend with mercedes instrument to repair them. Abrites have to make a repair function and a function to check the remote bytes...

Other thing. I decided me to buy protag and not tagtool in december 2015, because abrites said on their page, protag included all functions of tagtool ! But it isn?t true ! Protag can "just" make mercedes keys and hitag2. All other functions does not work till now ! Users have to buy a second tool to make their jobs ! It?s unacceptable...

This is what happens in my case .its my own van but say you go out to a costumer lost key job
1.you have to read EZS to get password.
2.read ezs by obd.typ in your password.
3.genrate key.
This all work ok.
4.program key.i had a second hand key.as you can see on pic.you have message how can key be erased.
With Protag ..fail
With rev4 pcb Nec get damage.
Is there any thing that i done not right if i falow instruction on screen.

Did you make a backup of your original cas dump by bdm using a programmer ??

I have used AVDI on new ranger rover, never had an issue before or after the update.

Now The Difference between the FR007 and FR008 is speed, low waiting time and the added new models. The reason why there was a new function is that there was a whole new internet service included just for this so there was a totally new function developed from scratch.

i never use (Abrites keys) on BCM2 by my AVDI, but i use brand new remote control by prepare it do be dealer key, & after programmed done ON BCM2 without any problem, this done with me on Audi cars from year 2009 till 2013 & up of this date i don't get yet to try by AVDI.

I think AVDi also can not program keys after 2014 with locked MCU, I am not sure , but I think I read it somewhere.
Also you know you have to have AN050 to use AN049, 4000 euros.With promotion now 3200.

It doesn't affect the dealer at all and it causes no issues, done plenty and never had a problem.

The dealer will not be able to program keys back added this way though on 2009+ Nec as the CS is incorrect.

I had big hopes when I bought AVDI+TagKey+some licenses. I realized that they didn't update TagKey (except payable Porsche and BMW, and some cloning functions) no update for making key from dump. The new functions come as new licenses for huge prices, the bugs never corrected, then they introduced the annual fees for nothing. I realized that they can do whatever they want to collect more money from us. I left the board and I don't update my device anymore. I rather keep several tools for each functions.

No you can not read flash from CCC , you can try to program new from server but even that is NOT working properly.......in fact all "better, new, online functions" do NOT work properly...... I am waiting over 30 days to reply why server was dead for 8 days without notification and to have some direct answers about poor server performance but still no news...wonder will they ever reply ?!

No, as far as i know only per dump read and modifying it. So you would have to open the eis and read eeprom. If you need re-enable blocked keys i can do that for you just post eis dump

If my TAG breaks tomorrow, I have to buy a protag instead of a TAG.
The only advantage protag has over TAG at the moment is the IR writer and many people don't need it, the boat sailed a long time ago, people bought other tools.

How many times was TAG tool updated? It was so full of bugs and out dated it was a joke.
Discontinuing TAG and making people buy PROTAG is a joke and it amazed that you have the nerve to try and defend what Abritus is doing.

If you do not want to use the protag - do not buy it, if you do not want something - no one is going to force you to get it. I am really tired of explaining how a business works to people who run businesses. When you go to TESLA they give you free internet for a year, then you start paying for the service.
I understand that you guys are hurt because of the issues with the AMS but like I have said a gazillion times before - the times are changing and your laptop can no longer work with a modern car. I have a favourite example. The one with the NEW MONDEO where with your laptop you make a key for 6- 12 hours and with the FR008 you do it for a maximum of 5 minutes via the internet and our server (server companies do not care how you pay for their equipment and support, btw). This my friend is called progress. Times are changing and we are changing with them. When I started working for the company there were barely 20 people in it. Progress cannot be stopped. We all need to move forward because it is implicit for our survival.
If you want to use a different system - get a different tool, but despite the bigotry that is going on here and the honestly insulting comments you guys all know that we care about our customers and take care of each one of you's problems every time.

True, BUT , let's go back to MISLEADING part..... There is NO any instructions about using special function in BMW software. There is ONLY menu where you choose for example programming and then you have to HOLD start button and wait for process to finish. Then server send you message preparation failed and support send you option to pay their acquaintances xxx euros to TRY to fix issue. And you as a customer have VALID TWO years warranty on HW and valid SW subscription for online services. What are we talking about?!

I have been waiting over 3 months for them to FIX brand NEW device..........and still not working properly and support is not answering........We make some noise here where whole planet can read about their support and they are NOT getting better..... When they fix issues , reply to all and apologize for bugs after fixing them , maybe then they will gain more trust and more new customers. Right now they are helping competitive company to get their existing customers with bad support and arrogant behavior ......

As You are aware my AVDI is giving me headache since day one. It was with your hardware team as well and it's not working properly. Please fix this immediately asI am not able to use brand new device. Your dealers said I have 2 year warranty and that HW problem are resolved. What now, so far of 9 BMW 7 was killed with your product. Really not happy with performance and support so far.


I need solution which will work,or I will be in need to return device as it's not performing as it's advertised.

Ross-Tech has new device Hex -Net, it cost $599 full version and all mobile functions works over server. Guess what , It is free.
Your device cost about $1000 plus all special function.
Ross-Tech is in USA 10X more expensive leaving then in Bulgaria .

Great. I have got the newest update yesterday. Protag supports now all functions from tagtool finally. SW version is 8.0. You have to make a firmware update from protag in protag tool sw before first using. Then, you can use Protag in the tagtool sw. I did not try on a car till now, but i hope it works fine..

Yes its posible to do it via IR but you have to connect the eis to the das manager first..

Regards w204 esl it does work, ive connected it several times. How else would you make it virgin ?

From what i understand we are only losing the Hardware which is around 40 Euro,ZN001 software gets transferred to ZN002 PROTAG if we decide to buy. .
We still have the option to stay using ZN001 if we don't want to change to ZN002 PROTAG.

After that i get in display L7 2-2 so it looks likes the keys were programmed but after switching key there was still L7 2-2 in display and no km was showing and enigine no running. i believe there is a way to fix this but dont know?

ZN001 was 500 EUR. ZN002 is 800 EUR. I don't see how we loose only 40 EUR. Both tools have the same functions while the ZN002 can do a little more. I guess it is OK for new clients. But for the old ones who already own ZN001 it is just unfair to ask the same amount.

You lot have scared him off!! We always get manufactures on here but it only lasts a couple of weeks. Avdi are expensive, some of the things they do annoy me, but as a whole they are a good company and I trust them much more that investing in Chinese stuff.

Protag I had to get as mn026 does not work fully without it :( my tag is old now and very tattered so about right for a replacement, although I'm looking forward how they are going to use it to sniff, or find 7th bite

cant see how legally they have to do anything, TAG still works, and will remain to work. They have just updated it to protag, as newer transponders hitag3 etc need new hardware. You dont have to buy it. I can see where you are coming from regards paying for the older software, but they will just say the price is the newer software. They SHOULD have offered an upgrade deal, most do, but they didnt, and i think it will be hard for them to do it now as so many have bought it, they would anger a lot of people. Another annoying problem with AVDI. When released, repair function for RBx dash from Audi work great. I manage to repair some RB4 dash with original dump lost.
Even on RB8 corrupted manage to revive dash.
Now not one dash can be reapired with AVDI. Sent mail to support, receive answer: Cannot support you anymore. Procedure was ok. Dash must be OK.

Never have problems. On some ROM51 remote will not work.
And pass read on rom v51 is also imposible

No tool will erase an OEM key by IR.
Did AVDI fail to renew the key using ABprog?
AVDI say you have two option to erase nec by simply put key in protag or remove NEC from PCB.

As it appears abrites like to Lie sometimes or they dont describe things clearly. You can renew a key over IR port with protag if its a Abrites benz key. If you have a OEM key the Nec must be desoldered and put on pcb, there is no other way

Hello AVDI users,

I have a question regarding the MED17 immo off function of avdi .

I've made an immo off ecu to a Vw Golf V with MED17.5.1 ecu with boot mode and avdi instructions. All ok , immo off on EXT flash.
Car started

Drove ok for about 5 kms ,,,, left to get warm all ok ,,, but when close ignition switch and try to open again NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT , and car won't start. \

As client was furious with me (thinking i did something wrong) he went to another guy and the other guy claims that the ecu has "lost" the checksum and he needs the original file to make it again !

So i'm asking is that even possible to lose the checksum after starting? All i did was to make immo off with my ORIGINAL AVDI ,,, and of course click the checksum correction button to check if makes any changes but still the same file,,,,

Has anyone seen this before? Abritus support claims that we should not use brutal methods with these ecus like immo off and i should have adapted the ecu to the car! I kinda agree with them ,,, but what about the immo off function? THey even sent me another immo off file to try but i doubt that car will come to me again after that!

2) and how you read the boot mode by soldering wire on the boot mode point? or you use special tool?, cause if soldering must clean well the around of boot point.
3) the immo off done by eeprom no? you don't touch the flash?

I see your worry
1) I always open this kind of ecus with heating a lil bit and from the correct place ,,, because yes in the past i have damaged ecu in the opening! Opening is not a problem....
2) I read with soldering wire yes,,, and i use isopropanol to clean the place around ...
3) eprom is all 00...... no data in ConfData ,,, only data in IntFlas and ExtFlash and avdi did immo only in ExtFlash

Also , my concern is that ecu fired up all ok for the first time! and worked like a charm even while driving.

Same problem here with EDC17 from Insignia. Although AVDI was not used for that car, after tuning and writing file, car was starting fine for 3 consecutive tries.
4th time was not so lucky. Seems that EDC17/MED17 can start the car for 1-2-3 times then complain about checksum problem.

I had similar problem with edc17 in Audi A5, car started first time 2nd and 3rd time no start. I kept going back loading file but error and flash dtc missing after start , this turn out Ecu fault . Customer replaced Ecu everything good

Yes. If the eis has a nec mcu like the w204, w212, w221 etc

If nec mcu in eis it will calculate the pass without opening of the existing key, doesent matter what type of key/rom version it is you will get the password

Sure there is. This functions others have over a year before abrites. And the new stuff that they got is pretty good, but its cloned/buyed from other benz tool makers that are much better developers.

Only thing where abrites has the big advance is NO tokens whatsoever. All calculations and online stuff are free and unlimited

I think they have bit of a problem with protag customer data base.and thats why some dont get updates couse they think you dont have protag.
But i dont mind that if is fixed quick.

AVDI says to use tpx1 but once i try to clone it have message cant program tpx1.-is this normal or problem with AVDI?

Still! It costs a lot more than Xhorse solution... I have MN022+MN024 and probably will not get the update. But I'm not planing to pay for MN026 because it costs more than the WHOLE Xhorse tool and will still need to get PROTAG.
Yes, you don't need tokens with AVDI but in the end you must pay a lot more in total to get the AVDI solution and probably wont be ahead for a very long time.
