1) The relevant unit software for N85 and N96 download Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60 3rd Edition.
2) Free Base Map
3) Support files.

you will also need the 1.5 keygen which is attached to this thread.

Connect your phone via usb.
install software in this order
1) support files 2) Base Map 3) Gamin Mobile
Remove USB cable and Click yes to install Garmin. If Garmin does not automatically launch look for the garminMobileXT.sis file in the root (where you installed) and launch that.

Once installed goto Applications > GMobileXT.

Go to Tools > Settings > about to locate the serial number.

Lauch the keygen and enter your serial number
Select Mobile XT from the dropown.
Click Generate Copy the text to notepad and call the file SW.UNL
Place this fie into the garmin folder.

You now have garmin installed on your phone (with no maps).

To have the maps download the latest mapsoure software directly from Garmin

This will download mapsource_6141.exe

Do not launch the exectuable. It will say something like no software to update instead extract the execuatable using winrar or winzip and launch MAIN.MSI this will install the mapsoftware without checking it you already have it installed.

Down to this part everyting works quite nice. My problems starting when i try to start Mapsource. It only complains on no mapsource-products. it coulnd find any installed. and then it shut downs. Anywhere specific place to put those maps?
I also wonder why to put dropdown to mobile pc now instead of using that map id?
but still. noone of em can get my mapsource to start :(

ahh didnt know there was an install.bat in mapdirectory. Now i got Garmin to work perfect. Many thanks for this. I hope there will be an Tomtom version soon too. That N95 with internal GPs dont work on a N85 :( Cant run bt file.

your serial number can find lauched MAPSOURCE for Garmin and in menu utillites find GET UNIT ID or
hold finger on battery icon in your garmin device by 20 seconds. there will dispaly your ID no.

so if You installed that on nokia You probably use GarminMobileXT softwear and there opcjon setting window and then is UNLOCK ESN.

Just downloaded this from Usenet. My lad has a Garmin nuvi 200 and he's been getting a message the maps are out of date. I downloaded this as i said and it says
This is the Mapsource version with install and not the *.img file.

So i opened the setup file and it asks me to enter the product key (which is Eight digits) Anyway this is where i come to an end as the keygens are 16 figures or something. Been doing a little google and apparently the 8 figure key is the one that comes with the dvd, Which i haven't got ;)
Now is there a way to install this updtate on a standalone Garmin satnav ?
I'm still an old aa atlas man lol So if there is anyone that can drag me to the satnav age and give me a pointer or two then i'm all ears :)

Excellent thread on installing Garmin XT and I managed to get most of it going but am having 2 problems - can anyone help?

1. Mapsource says it cannot find any maps - I've downloaded all 14 of them and unlocked them - do I need to put them somewhere special or what?

2. When I start XT on my phone, I get an initial screen that gives me 4 options;
a) buy the product
b) start trial
c) enter product key
d) Use a GArmin GPS

Can I get a product key? Do I need it or have I missed a step?
If I try option D, it won't let me use the internal GPS.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I amtrying to load this on my Nokia5800. I followed the instruction from "sivhead" by downloading the 3 files recomended. I also installed the GmobileXT file on my nokia (but it did say that file not compatible - before installing). Nevertheless, i installed it. However, when i try to launch it, it does nothing.
Is this correct file? Does Garmin work on Nokia5800??

am i doing something wrong? to the point of installing the maps, city navigator 9 update 11 (i thin) is installed, when running it it asks to unlock the map, press skip and i can't select anything on the map and it says map data locked in the bottom right of the map.

Any ideas?

Got there in the ned, had to generate multiple keygens for teh map but eventually it worked using the custom map set id of 397 to generate a key

Found the problem, there is a bug in routing that selects off road if you choose the fastest or shortest route option, which selects off road and just routes a staight line, you have to select one of the first options ( pirority for wy1 or wy3 for fastest or shortest route

Try moving the /GARMIN folder to the root of the memory card. then copy the maps at the root directory.

this works on pocket pcs.

if it cannot see the map there are only two things....

Either the directory structure differs from the default which garmin uses.....

Or the Software is not "Open Yet"

Is there something like sub/system looking only after everything else than mapsets? Pls. help if you can :stupido3:. Tx

Haven't experienced that thing.

the only thing I did was setup garmin, unlocked it, then copied the map and all is doing well, as per routes, maybe you have to find the exact directory in your n95 where garmin stores it. try to save a track first from your mobile, then try to find out where it stores it, maybe that is the folder where you should put them, not thru mapsource of course. just transfer it directly.

Do you know which file is it that Mapsource creates in PC? Is it all info stored in 1 (if I have let's say 2 routes, 3 waypoints...etc) file on HDrive?
Just wondering if it's only 1 that I need to manually copy over to device or if it's more :)

after this u should get GMAPSUPP.IMG)
3. copy on:
A) (device) change name on GMAPPROM.IMG and put into root folder /Garmin
or

I want to put it onto an SD card. The card is blank with nothing else on it. Do i juts need to take the downloaded software paste it onto teh SD card and call the file, GMAPPROM.IMG ?
