I would really appreciate some help with this Radio Code

I do ecu's and immo's but not done any radios so far.

I have the above radio and understand that the code is in a s2914 smd, can anyone confirm this is correct and tell me where it is located in the radio. here is a link to the service document which may be helpful in showing where it is and may be handy for others too. http://p38arover.com/rover/p38a/Clarion_PU9836A.pdf

I have a few of these to do so would like to find some software that will extract the codes too if possible as this is likely to be a regular thing.

I hope someone will help me.

Thanks

Thanks for that, Any idea where it is? there are a lot of daughter boards in there and a casette deck too.

I dont want to start striping it down to find the chip if I dont need too.

@turner

Here's the layout for PU-9836A.
You'll need to remove the deck, to access eeprom.

Thats perfect, can you tell me where you got the image from? I think I have seen something similar on here before, it could be useful.

Well I tried to read the 93c46 with a soic clip on board with my xprog m and couldnt get a good connection to pin 1, removed the chip and now getting connection errors to even more pins so it looks like the chip is screwed.

Does anyone have a good dump they could let me have so I can write it to a new chip? Maybe they could let me know the code too..?

Thanks

@turner

Did you read chip as 'rotated'. If you don't know 'rotated', then search on DK... there's plenty info on it.

Didnt realise it was a rotated chip, connected correctly now and says "bad contact at pin 6" so looks like its all over for this chip.

Thanks once again, although I realise that there were not many numbers to choose from the number of combinations and waiting an hour to try them if I didnt get it right quickly didnt bear thinking about LOL...

Really do appreciate your help with this, especially as I feel such a fool for wreaking the chip by connecting to it wrongly in the first place.

Sometimes its the simple things that catch us out.

Hi,
I have problem with same model, read rotated 93C46 in 16 bit mode, dump looks like is good, I now can't confirm code. enter numbers 4355 or 5543, but "up" button do nothing anyway.

Hello

93c46BX
=======
If the wrong code was entered at three times
1. Wait for more than an hour at the necessary wire
connections.
2. Press BAND button for two seconds.
3. Input the correct code.

is there a way to remove the wait state? This radio we waited an hr for it to offer us to enter the code, it was ---- in display. we entered the code & it just sits there, it has not accepted the code the no.s are still on display, cant enter anything else. Guess we have to wait another hr. The .bin has 62628484 in it, we entered 6262. Will try 2626 next. Was wondering if 8484 was the wait state?

I did check in NYO but my version does not list Land Rover.
Can the wait state be reset? how to do that then.
Thanks for the info.
Brian.

I am not sure but I think your dump has been read at 16 bit instead of 8 bit ( think first 2 bytes should be AA AA ) but I don't know what bit it should be read at

Thanks, I will read it again. I'm using upa, the menu gives x 16 option. I just used the standard preset, it does not say what it is reading at.

So, this 93c64 is a S2914.
UPA has a preset for 93c64 in both 8 & 16 bit which I tried.
UPA also has, I just found, a preset for S2914 16 bit.
I just read with this & I get AAAA 2132 3042
NYO for clarion says either 3221 or 1223
I just waited for the hour to pass & it is not 3221.
waiting before I can try again. Will update.
Thanks guys.

BeianM
13th June, 2013, 11:17 AM
It was 2312
So it is a 16 bit S2914 in upa usb & not a 93c64 8 bit
Cheers all, we got there.
