I am looking at options for a media player connected to the TV that can stream video from a PC or network hard disk over a wireless network. My videos are in DivX format.

So far D-Link DSM-320 is the only one I found that supports UPnP so would work with my Lacie Ethernet Disk Mini running as a media server.

If I am streaming from my Windows 2003 server PC then I have more options, such as the cheaper DSM 330. I have also seen linksys and cisco units that do the same, all requiring streaming server software to be installed on the PC.

I am a bit disappointed there is nothing that can read directly from a bog standard Windows share, as my trusty DM500 can, albeit only MPEG 2 and not DivX.

I know you said wireless, but I use the original xbox (softmoded) with XBMC on it, and it's really good at what it does. It reads standard windows shares no problem and plays every file in my library (talking nearly a TB worth from a wide range release groups and warez sites). Once you get yourself the DVD Remote, its better to use than your dm500. Course the lack of wifi is a problem, I've been thinking of getting one of those

But I would like to find something with wifi, that does all this out of the box - oh and the dvd drives always seem to break, so mine can't play dvds.

Why not look at the popcorn hour media player. Its excellent and will play almost anything you throw at it.Runs on Linux and there is a healthy forum providing new apps and skins etc.

Connect to your PC via NFS / SMB network connection.
you can also plug in a wirless network adapter and streamfrom a server/pc

4) Connect to your NAS via NFS / SMB / UPNP AV.

5) Install an internal HDD/external HDD.

6) Hook up an external DVD ROM (for non-css encrypted DVD only)

You can also plug in a sata drive directly into the unit.
When you do this it dowloads software which allows it to act like a torrent client

How about D-link DSM-520 or D_link DSM-510
they both support UPnP and you can stream directly from a NAS.
if you have a lot of HD content then I would recommend getting the DSM-750 it a wireless N media Player
