After having 2 Pioneer 112 drives die on me, I asked SVP if they would not replace my dead drive with another 112, so they offered me a free upgrade to the 115 :)

Arrived on friday and it's perfect, it's burning my cheap 8x DL's at 8x with no coasters, the 112 would have struggled at around 5x then gave me an error :(

Thanks SVP :)

i had the same with a 112, died after 4 burns, my old 111 is still going strong so i wasnt happy with the 112, took it back to the place i got mine (not svp) but a shop near to me and i got a 115 off them (free exchange). not used it yet so cant comment on it but it cant be as bad as the 112 which from my own experience was a step down from the 111.

I've still got my old Pioneer 111 aswell mate, works great, had it for yonks :)

I reckon the 112 is being built by a 3rd party, it just hasn't impressed me in the least.

My m8s 112 only burns at 0.5 speed...lol

He reckoned it was the drive but it used to work, just goes to show that it must be a crap drive, unusal for Pioneer though but as witchy said, maybe a 3rd party is making them.

I have bought several things from SVP, and their after sales service is excellent: in contrast to Aldi.
My Dvd from Aldi died about 3 weeks ago; it has a three year guarantee.
It has been a bit of pain to sort out, but eventually they are going to give me
my money back. The only reason I bought it, was it had HDMI and also DTS sound for a good price.
I ordered on special offer from SVP, a 1Gb mp3 player for ?3-99, it came the next day, a bargain for the price and the sound is outstanding for the price.

This thread is somewhat worrying me, I bought a 112 off of SVP the other month. Not a single coaster yet, all wii games burnt at 8x and working fine.

Of course, I'm using verbatim 16x printables that PC World fuffed up on their website (got 4 packs of 25 for ?13.49). So perhaps it's cos the discs are good. Although, saying that I've also been using ritek G05 8x at 4x with no discernible problem.

Oh well, time will tell, I'll keep an eye out for any problems that may appear.

@edds.

Both my 112's worked fine for a few weeks then started doing silly things. Obviously all 112s can't be ~~~~ed otherwise they'd have been recalled a long time ago. Personally I had a terrible experience with the drive but that doesn't mean that you will.

@ Xenafan

SVP gave me a free upgrade from the 112 to 115, very happy with the 115, it actually behaves like a Pioneer! :)
