I got a customer with a defect cluster, BMW dealer put in brand new cluster but km shows 999999, BMW can not help the customer, he paid 700 euro for the dash! Good service. I want to help him but software is higher then the original cluster.
The new cluster is HW15 and SW14 date 01.11.10! Is this cluster compatible with the original, will it solve the problem if I just change the mileage?

Thanks.

You must read dump and post. In 2010 there is no simple 35080, so we must take a look to mileage location first

Cluster looks exactly the same as the old one E38/E39/E53 etc... I think I don't open the cluster because of the BMW warranty. But BMW cannot change mileage. I am going to give him a phonecall first tomorrow. Thanks.

So you drive a while and then you can adjust mileage? Customer drove a lot still 999999km?

BMW dealer tryed to reprogram and recode this dash 100%, so onlly way it is to work with dump! It is dificult to take out neadles in this type of dash, so you must read it ICP and take a look to milage location....

No, coustomer bring this dash to me,
becouse in bmw can not return back elektrical things,
he just order new dash,he dont want to they do programing

Like Cas modul,
you can order on chasi nr, its cost 230e, but programing cost extra 280e...

I programing this for 120e

For your case try to read eeprom with bmw scanner,
and chech then dump

No customer is going back to BMW, I told him it is problem of BMW. New cluster doesn't work.

SW15 HW14, you gotta be kidding me! That cluster is 5-6 years old.I can't believe the sticker reads 2010?! Anyway the latest HW version of remanufactured or brand new clusters is HW 26. It's a possibility that that cluster stayed there on the dealer's shelf for a couple of years. If the tachometer and speedometer work it means someone tried to code it. 999999km means all incremental bytes are 00's and if coded right the miles should be overwritten by the LCM. Now with my experience (and I have coded many of those for independant dealers), I have never seen a brand new E39/E53 type cluster show 999999km but rather 000000km. I've seen that on the E60 type clusters though.

Warranty sticker on brand new shining dash was 100% from 2010.

Were the RPM and speedo gauges working or not?
