Hello,
I have a DM800HD and it has a fan, I'm not sure if it's a good thing to disable the fan itself (I've taken the HD cable out as I won't be using HD). I know I should've purchased the DM500S instead but I can't give it back or exchange it.
I opened the box, tried taking the tuner out but I don't want to screw the box up. Anyone know what to do in my situation? Purchase a new fan and install it? (I don't know how to take the tuner out though)
Help would be greatly appreciated, along with a rep and thank. :)
As you must've noticed, anyone who participates in my thread is rep'd and thank'd because I appreciate the input.
Thanks.

Hi, i had the same problem and ended up unplugging the internal fan and buying an external usb fan off flebay for about 3 pound and placing it on top of box.keeps it cooler than before. No need to remove tuner this way.

maybe invest in a laptop cooler to keep box working

You can do as fat man says or you can try putting a drop of wd40 on your fan spindle mate , to remove tuner you got to take off back plate , only couple screws holding it , then tuner should slot out of box to the left as you look from front

If you are concerned about changing the fan, you could disconnect one of the leads or cut, and buy this cooling pad.
cooler for dreambox, dreambox cooler, dreambox 800 cooler (http://www.dreamboxshops.co.uk/dreambox/cooler-for-dreambox.htm)

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it.
I guess I'll purchase an external cooler and take the fan out from the box.
@The fat man - Is your box working well without the fan inside?
Thanks.

mine dm800 fan started to make noises but has quietened down now, so you could just leave it and see what happens, for me it usually happens when i switch it on in the morning for a minute and then stops so it doesnt spoil my enjoyment nevertheless it is annoying.
