Which tool should I use to change the VIN# in the CAS unit.
I`m thinking about latest Pasoft BMW scanner or Rosfar CAS programmer.

With WINKFP How do i do it ?

In my understanding I have to reprogram the module with appropriate software for the CAS of E65 car. Before hitting done insert the Vin # in the VIN window. Maybe exists another shorter way to change just the Vin without replacing the software, please advise how to do it I have never done it.

Would you share what software you will use to edit the VIN ?
I would like to learn myself. I`m hoping Rosfar 260 software or PAsoft 201 can edit it. Am I right ?

Rosfar260 is on the way to me. Once I will get it I will send the dump to correct the VIN.

In WINKFP I have found the exact part number of my CAS module, so I have punched the VIN # and gave a try to program it. That what pops up. Do I miss any of the steps to get it done?

That is the dump read by Rosfar 260 The VIN in this dump should be DP58063 and the km reading 219530km. I would like to replace the vin with WBAGN63442DR05111 so it matches the rest of my car.
The second sump is the same just saved as BIN

You are right Raf The vin is still with L instead N. Nobody can correct that? I will try within few hours maybe the the modules check all last 7 for compatibility.

all can be edited... its just that i was not sure which one you wanted ...

carefully check and post the full vin from paper work for your car ....and i will edit again for you...

I have tried COCOLO file and looks like the VIN checking between the modules only cares about last 7 characters . Looks is all good now.
As far as editing, what software are you using to edit the VIN # If you read the post #9 you will find the VIN # which I need to be. WBAGN63442DR05111
BMW scanner 2.0.1 looks like is able to edit last 7 characters of the VIN . Is that what you were using?
I would like to find out what you use so next time I dont have to ask to help mi with task like it.

It`s all sorted out. The system cares only about last 7 of the VIN when checking for VIN compatibility.

Where is the VIN held in the dump. I guess you know it if you say you use Rosfar for the VIN editing. Would be nice of you if you share that info.

That was very helpfull. Thank You

I guess all the other modules in the car check the VIN # with CAS according to the part in adress 790. That`s why in my case everything works fine even if one letter in firs part of the VIN wont match.

The dump read by Rosfar is that all memory which contains CAS in E65 car. the dump is kind of small around 5kb. I`m thinking lets say in futur an CAS fail. Can I read the 9S12 chip with Rosfar from the old failed unit and upload it to another used CAS? Is that enough or I need to read and transfer some other external memory to get it working?
