You won't go wrong with a Netgear, Linksys or Belkin. (netgear being the best)

DSL or ADSL?

I've just grabbed a TP-Link 108mbps wireless router for ?17 from SVP Communications, it was fully up and running within minutes, Xbox360, PC, Dreambox500 and 2 wireless laptops all running sweet :)

?17 for a 108mbps Wireless router - you can't argue with that price!

Buffalo Airstations are excellent i bought one from ebuyer for ?25 the range is really good as its got a booster that can be switched on in the web interface connected dreambox, dbox2, 320gb network drive, wii, xbox360, and 2 laptops, 1 desktop in about 15 mins

I think all modern routers come with the booster feature these days, my ?17 one has it :)

Buffalo, are those the routers that you can reflash with a linux firmware allowing you to turn it into a dual WAN?

Dunno mate ill look into that!!Sounds interesting

The Buffalo has a button on the top to instantly connect Wii and DS with having to fiddle with the settings!

better off with the wrt54gl, it is the same but less messing around to flash with dd-wrt if you wanted to.

Ah, but the asus has got a usb port on it, so you can connect external storage, printers or scanners. I've got both a wrt54gs and a wl500g (the old version with small flash and slower processor), and while the wrt is probably a better router, the asus is definitely useful. I had it set up as a combined NAS and wireless bridge. It's great what you can do with custom firmware :) (in my case OpenWRT). I got it from ebay for around ?15, so it works out about half the price of a 'proper' wireless bridge, and is SO much better.

@the OP: Since this thread is a bit old, you've probably got your router by now, but I'd definitely have recommend you get one supported by third party firmware.
