Hi please can anyone help, i have read a 93c46 eeprom chip but one of the legs have got damaged, can i use a 93c56 instead and will it work

Yes, you can
you fill first 93C56 area (128 bytes) with with 93C46 dump and last area (also 128 bytes ) with 93C46 too.
