i use Carsoft 6.5, quite good, but fault code meanings can be a pain, but i just downloded the fault codes meanings and save it as a txt file to refer too.

This kinda depends on what year cars you work on and to what level ( diagnostics , programming , keys etc.etc)

never tried bmw carsoft, but merc carsoft sucks (my opinion)

Inpa = BMW's own diagnostics (upto 2007)
Very Very good and can be interfaced to vehicle cheaply..

Bmw scanner 1.40 = Very nice to use, limited models covered,
but coverage within thoses models is very good...

BMW Scanner by P.A.Soft - BMW diagnostic software and used parts reprogramming tool (http://www.bmw-scanner.com/)
(this is available from china too :top:)
