guys i have just bought a 2003 plate mazda 323 sport 2 litre.
the vehicle has come with full service history from mazda dealers and has 58000 miles on the clock. The garage i bought it from has no idea if the timing belt has been changed, so can anyone advise me if it would have been done in in past services or is it due one now or should i just change it as a precaution.
thanks in advance lads.

the recommended replacement interval for the BJ engine is 54000 miles, as you probably know. If it was changed recently you might be able to say by appearance of belt and tensioner, esp.the spring.
If you're in doubt then just change it and you'll be fine and feeling safe.
