Piwis V29 on IBM T30 laptop

Got an IBM T30 laptop with PIWIS V22 upgraded to PIWIS V29 but is does not seem to communicate with my KTS520 interface. Is this a known problem, is the KTS 520 compatible with the PIWIS T30?
How to do a firmware upgrade of the KTS520? For the one with the right awnser got PIWIS V22 up to V29 in return ;-)

The original device for Piwis is KTS 521, not KTS 520.

You can use 520, but the firmware have to be reflashed and you are limited to COM port.

KTS 521 will work on any laptop via USB.

Mainboard 520 and 521 is the same. Diffrent is only one PC recognise mainboard like 520 or 521. 520 is 100% compatibile with 521 but 521 is not compatibility with 520. It is mean 520 works 100% ok with esitronic and 100% with piwis (also with usb!) but 521 works only with piwis! If somone are interested I can sell mainboard 521 for 1500 euro.

mate, you are wrong.
there are some small differences in the schematic between KTS 521 and KTS 520.
Yes, PCB is the same (the same for all the KTS from 520-550-650 family), but look closely and you will see the differences in some parts.
Similiar differences are between SD module in KTS 650 (1 684 400 274) and PIWIS tester (1 684 400 322).

I have an complete set of PIWIS KTS 521 tester for sale, including Porsche PIWIS cable (1 684 465 504) and Porsche 19-pin adapter, with 6 month guarantee for a good price (sure better than 1500 Euro :) )

Hi

I know 520 and 521 have only two elements other but it is only for recognice by PC. The other elements is 100% the same.

actually, there are 5 hardware differences, different firmware (of course) and different form of the serial number.

Of course dump am29f800 is other but hardware components are only two elements diffrent... but it is unimportant... I can see you have nice casing for PCB KTS. Have you more them?

Thanks for the replies but still no success here. With KTS520 connected to laptop and selecting any car it is passing the hardware test. However when reading out for example the DME I got an error message "can not find module". So my guess it is the cable between the KTS and car. Any hints in getting a good cable or could it be the KTS firmware?

i had an issue where i had to update firmware (i think reinstalling 28,29) and get it updated to see certain modules. i troubleshooted cable to no end but it was in the firmware.
