I have an Alpha CB28 boiler. Over the past few days my hot water system has failed on me.

Now the heating works as per normal and fires up ok but when the hot water gets turned on it just flows cold.

You need to have heating on at same time for it to heat the water.

Doing some reading it seems quite a common fault and it to be the diaphragm (http://www.boilersparesdirect.co.uk/parts-online/shopexd.asp?id=6120).

Would this be easy enough to replace or not to touch at all.

How much should this repair cost if a engineer is to be called out.

not familiar with your boiler, but a guy on here (http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=44336) had the same problem

Will the attachment help?

Cheers mate. Will have look when I get home.

Also done some more reading and it looks like its the flow switch. When you press and release this it should fire up the burner which its not.

I had the same problem m8. It is the flow switch. don't know how old your boiler is I changed mine as I had to keep the heating on during summer just to get hot water .. very expensive business .. cheaper on long run to change tyhe boiler.

HI mate,
its only 6/7 years old.

I can get a flow switch for ?13.

How did you go about changing it? does it just clip off?

Also if you clip it off do you empty the boiler first ?

Page 23 gives details for replacing the flow switch with a diagram (23) and tut beneath the diagram. Looks quite simple.
